  • New guy... (2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE)

Hello, my name is Patrick Sutton. You might notice why my english is "broken" because I'm deaf. My car is 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. It used be ugly SE model. I have change to "GT/P" look and still proud owner of 3100 engine. I'm more car show appearance. I'm not looking fast car.

I figure it might be nice to join V6 site who know lot of 3100 engine and need BIG help about lower intake gasket that I don't know how to remove the pushrod to get the gasket out to REPLACE new metal gasket. I did search lot of them while ago but nothing find my question. I found metal gasket from wot tech site. Is that good site? If not then please let me know where to get metal gasket?

On May 25, I removed front/rear valve covers & upper intake manifold. I sent my parts to buddy to make polish parts. He still has it. Can't wait to get it back. While my car is sitting since May 25th. I figure why not just replace plastic gasket to metal gasket. My engine actually blown gasket few years ago. I knew it will happen again in future. I figure metal gasket will stop cause leaking?

I went to junk yard that they have wrecked 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I want to try remove myself as test before I f**k it up on my own car. That's why I want to try junk yard to know what to do before I mess it up. Someone already remove lower intake manifold and took it. I just like darn it but I believe lower intake manifold should be easy because they are bolt in from what I read for how to remove lower intake manifold. Fuel line scare me little bit because I might cause engine fire? lol Steering wheel pump... easy... 3 bolts as I see. Now, how HECK you remove push rod? I have no freaking idea how to get that damn thing out for remove plastic gasket out to put new metal gasket. Oh it is my 1st engine job. I'm learning as much I can.

Oh you probably want pictures of my car?

      Welcome!

Sorry for the late response, but I kept forgetting to respond to your questions. For better responses from the site, post maintenance questions in the Pushrod Maintenance section next time. This area isn't really the most active area on the site.

As far as getting the pushrods out, all you need to do is loosen the rocker arms and they will come right out. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THEM IN THE PROPER ORDER WHEN YOU REMOVE THEM! The intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths, and you can cause significant engine damage if you replace them in the wrong order. When you go to install them again, all you have to do is torque the rockers to spec and you are done.

SofaKingWeToddDid: Thank you. Yes, the car look nice because some few paints job. Of course, I always clean/wax them so the paint should stay new forever lol. The wheel is Liquid Metal Static. I got it from my local area seller who sell the wheel. I grab great deal for $300 (no tire). Not bad.

There is site about this wheel. Oh they have chrome too. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...=Car%2FMinivan
