Hey guys! I'm new to this board, though I've been floating around for a while. I'm a regular on the TGPForums and W-Body forum, under the names grinders_18 and krenzy, respectively. I figured I'd join over here and see what this board can offer.
I'm the proud owner of a built 1989 Turbo Grand Prix, the somewhat proud owner of a 1995 Ford SHO, and the exbarassed owner of a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero. I keep the Montero for sentimental value...my first car. The SHO is powerful and kicks ass, but it's a Ford. The TGP kicks the crap outta the SHO without even trying lol.
I have owned the TGP for close to two years, and from pretty much day one, I had problems. Over the course of time, I replaced everything. EVERYTHING! Well, damn near everything lol. Every sensor, misc parts, the turbo, crossover, mounts, just everything. It's all chronicled and documented on TGPForums, so I won't get too extensive unless asked. But these repairs gave me the opportunity to learn more about this car, and upgrade big time. The turbo was a stock T-25. Now, a Garrett T-28 Stage 3 Hybrid turbo resides in it's place...fully ported and polished as well. The heads were decked .010", ported, polished, gasket matched. The exhaust sides of the heads and manifolds were both opened up for better breathability, so to speak. I added an Invasion1 Performance Chip, which slaughtered the once-mighty Top Gun 160 Chip...the Invasion1 chip is no longer available. TGPilot (KAZ Motorsports) now offers a comparable well designed chip in it's place. New Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 245/60/16 tires were installed immediately, and are great for both racing and normal driving. Removed the catalytic convertor and added well-flowing Raptor mufflers. So much more.
When I bought it, the G-Tech stated it had just over 250 horsepower. I wouldn't think it's too far off from 275-285, but I can't confirm it yet.
