  • new pic, just beofre it goes to the body shop

finnaly got the car together and getting it in for paint. got the z24 bumpers on, 87 valance and hood, 86 sunbird spoiler, and custom side skirts to line up to the valance.

i think i can officialy say the car is no longer a 2.0l rs, its now a z24

The car looks HOT!!! Can't wait to see it painted,

The price they quoted you is nuts. I think you can find a better deal somewhere else. It seems they are trying to screw you over.

Yea where the HELL did that price come from!?!? I could understand them charging that much if it's a BADASS shop and it's a crazy custom paint with all kinds of twack shit in there, but for just a charcoal and black? Negative sir

well, 6 shops estimates later and im between 4200 and 5500, all with me doing the re/re of bumpers and such. 2 shops said they would need the car for 2-3 months as they only do complete re-paints as in between work. if i hadnt had a very bad expiriance with a "backyard" body shop i would head to one, as i do know of a few.

there is a lot of body work to be done on the car. one example is the large dent you can see right behind the drivers door, ive been quoted 8+ hours to fix just that. i will likley end up paying the big money to get it done. i dont wanna and have a hard time justifying it, but i do get a warrenty on the work and paint, and i know they are gonna do a good job.

Prices like that could 'almost' be worth your time coming to the states to find a better deal for the same quality.

almost is it. i dont have time to go south and look for a shop, drop it off, get it painted, then bring it back and pay another 13% in taxes

Couldnt drive it across the boarder to the shop of choice, have someone follow you there for the ride back. When they ask where is your car, it is broken down at a friends place.... ?
Then when its done, reverse repeat process.
I am not familiar with canada ways, could you explain the 13% tax?

the 13% tax is our federal gst (general sales tax) of 6% and pst (provincial sales tax) of 7%. this is paid at the border when you purchase something in the US, or have repairs made. sure you can try to get around it and not claim it, but if its found out i can face serious fines, possible jail time and be unable to leave the country. not worth it.

thanx, i liked my old cavy too. id love to build a rwd hatch with a twin turbo 3.4 dohc. aim for around 5-600hp and 2200lbs would make a hell of a fast car.
