  • 1995 McLaren M6B-GT Concept TURBO

Here is my 1995 McLaren M6B-GT concept TURBO car with a 1991 McLaren based 3.1 GTP motor in her. Just recently I found out that this little car does 90 MPH in second gear, where as I have not hit the rev limiter with it in second, I have of course in 1st. Does anyone know how fast the 3.1 GTP motor with the 4T60-E transmission will go in second?

Also I know it will do 212 mph* with a Haltec computer piggy backed, but with a stock computer there is so much boost and speed the motor will take before the ECM says..."aaaah no"!

If anyone can post just how fast there GTP Turbo car can go in 2nd gear, it would be most appreciated..

Also.......... Where is the speed limited at with the GTP turbo cars and they also made a 205 as well as a 305 HP motor. How can one tell if a motor is 305 HP?

212 mph* is based on data given with many many modifications, ie thin racing forged rims, aerodynamics modified and a lot of balls..!!

Here he comes, the greatest American herooooo.......

There was never a production 305 HP 3.1, only the 205 HP version, in fact until I read this post, I hadn't heard of anything but the 205 HP turbo 3.1, and I've been around these engines a long time.

Cool car, would like to see more pics.

Reminds me of that car off of that old TV show (that I can now no longer remember the name of). Very sweet though!

How many rpms are you turning when you take it to 90mph in 2nd gear? 5500rpms in a Turbo Grand Prix(245/50/16 tire size)puts you at 82mph in 2nd gear. Also...what does that M6B-GT weigh in at?

The 305hp version was one of GM's pre-production prototypes(probably one of many).

what size tires are on the car??? they look significantly bigger than a 245/50/16. that would be why its quite a bit faster than a tgp.

Car weighs in at 1650 lbs

The Manta McLaren weighs in at 1650 lbs.... Add my weight of 200 lbs!

Also I did read about the 3.1 liter intercooled turbo GTP motor pushing a stock 305 HP... They where very rare, but non the less, where manufactured!

I think the 305 figure in that magazine scan may be a typo, since it lists it aas making 220 tq. Only time I've heard of such a disparity in hp/tq is the S2000. Most pushrods make more torque than HP, even when FI. Correction is requested on the last remark.
