  • My work thus far

    on my 02 GAGT
ok so while i am waiting on parts for my car(body work) i have almost all of my stuff in for my trans and engine. I have the QT electric cutout for my exhaust and ill explain more about that later, then the ported intake set from the store here, the TCE 65mm tb from here, newer heads that are shaved about .006 due to slight warpage, on them i have the LS steel seats, LS6 yellow springs, had a 3 angle seat grinding done, valve job, have the 2.2 L seals on them, stock retainers and locks, almost an entire set of Fel Pro gaskets for the engine, including head and intakes and timing cover, a brand new set of roller lifters($180), ill be getting a custom grind for my cam soon, and custom pushrods, i have flowmatched injectors, an adjustable FPR, DHP PT with A/D upgrade for my LC-1 wideband, SS coated headers/downpipe/high flow cat, autolite copper plugs one range colder, new oil pump drive, all new engine sensors, new timing set, low mileage rockers, custom CAI, and thats all i can think of right now. for the trans i am just waiting for the LSD to come in, i already have almost all of the upgrades that i offer for the 4T45 including the 3.91 chain drive...very nice, and a high stall converter. then ill be including BFG DRs at 215/50/15 and a set of stock steel rims from the SE GA's. then all i will have to do is tune, then a little dyno work and track time and thats it. as for the cutout, i used to have an up/down elec motor on my seat, well the gear stripped off, so i am using the 3 position reverse polarity switch to control my exhaust cutout so no one can tell that i have one. it will be all stock wiring, so nothing is cut and spliced or anything else, just factory looking for minimal cost. thats it folks. im almost done. im looking at the middle of this month and the body work and engine work will be done. all parts that are used are factory GM for anything except gaskets, TB, headers, and cutout. thank god for my discount

yah kinda, ran into some valvetrain issues and misfire issues, all mechanical, so i gotta take the rear head off and look at it, but other than that i love the gearing and all the other stuff, may go more aggressive on the cam soon though...its really fun now

so here is a new update...
yah so like anyone else i just cant leave my car alone...the engine is comming out, and getting bored with some hypereutectic pistons...and moly rings, actual specs are .030 over, having the stock crank polished and the hole chamferred. all new bearings including cam bearings. everything will be measured as well. i may send the crank to get knife edged, idk yet. also looking at a crank scraper. also ARP rob bolts going on the rods...idk about shot peening them. taking the crank as well to get balanced. all the engine work, including cleaning, boring/honing, shaving(to add some static CR) install cam bearings, measure crank and rods if i need oversize bearings, install pistons on rods, polish crank, chamfer holes, and some other misc things for $210. the balancing will come from another shop, prob about $100, idk if i wanna go full blueprint on this one or just get another engine and go all out with it. the pistons and rings will be in in a few days. also all new freeze plugs and threaded plugs, using the big cam i still have from delta, stock brand new timing set, all new sensors, flowmatched injectors, all the other good stuff, also im taking the higher stall converter out, dont like it very much. also getting a few other new things, including 2 new lower control arms with poly bushings, the bushings are from mark at MP racing, thanks for the hookup, they have new ball joints on them, also a new PS pump, and rack, along with tie rods, but that is immaterial. i had the option to go either 20, 30 or 40 over, i decided on 30...sounds like a good round number plus from what i have heard im not pushing the outter limits too much. that way i can make better use of my cam. i may look into HP tuners before too long if DHP slows to a stop...maybe put my tuner up for sale. just depends on who is interested. ill have pics when i get stuff in.

ok here is a pic of the pistons, they came with new pins, and i figure once uve seen one set of rings uve seen them all, they are exactly like stock with the CR, but they are hyper-e and they are oversized along with the rings...ill try to document the entire rebuild if i can.

enjoy...total price for rings, pins and pistons...$240 including all charges

thnx...i thought about it a while, and i have read alot of people like to use these instead of forged for the cost, the quality, they weight about the same, and a few other characteristics. plus i got a really good deal on them, and i didnt have to measure, or anything, just use the PN and order

where did you get those from at that price? Summit wants like 180ish for just the +.010 pistons, i dunno if they come with pins or not, and rings are gonna cost me too......

o i have some connections...what size pistons u want, they are a little diff in the price range, just let me know the size of the pistons and rings, the piston set comes with new pins. i got a good deal on them, im not sure i can do it again, but ill see what they can do for me. they are stock except for the size and material tho, alot of people like to change it up, i like to keep it simple.

on the 3.91 gears for the 4t4x trans, just use a set of overdriven gears, a bigger chain and the sensor for the new gear and the 3.29 diff, the drive ratio is then 38/32 which is 1.1875 x 3.29 = 3.91 FDR, i have all the part #s and offer them for sale...anything u want for the 4t4x trans that is offered i sell and then some
