haha... o ya, I forgot all about the nightmare of the harshness before the chip. Seems like the bucking is entirely engine related.

I have a stock clutch with the accumulator removed. Now to what I was saying, I never said that the 284 didn't shift beautifully nor did I say that it was not reliable. What I did say was that it is a bitch to drive in the city.
      I agree...

ya the getrag does shift smooth, but i hate the clutch. and i have only driven one, i'm sure some of them are better and different but there is was no feel to that pedal at all.

If you don't like our clutch feel, go test drive a Focus. My friend has one and said the pedal feels more like a switch, either on or off, and no in between or engagement feel. This was confirmed by Oldskoolgp when he test drove an SVT Focus even.

again... with the accumulator removed, the clutch has mucho feedback.

This is good stuff where should I start on the swap. Can I do a rebuild on this myself or is it something a shop should do. Keep in mind that I hate shops they are all crooked.

The Getrag 284 is NOT rebuildable. The only place that will do one is GETRAG themselves.... I think to the tune of $1600 on GMPD or over $3k if you go direct.

Check-it>>>DANA INC (DANA GEAR) bought stake in Getag gear of north America operations

It is possible Dana may have OEM replacements for the Getrag.

This old and I can't find an update on this:
