i wanna put the 96+ intakes on my 93 lumina z34. do i need the 96+ fuel rail to? and what all is going to need to be modified?

You need everything from the lower intake manifold up to do the swap, including the fuel rail.

But from what I have heard it is not worth it, but go for it if you'd like!

Its not worth it as much for an auto, but a 5 speed will take advantage of the top end. And at 7000 feet, nothing really matters now does it aaron.

the 96+ manifolds will likely slaughter your low end, especially with the auto trans. may end up being slower overall with them if you cant take advantage of them at upper revs (nearing the 7k mark). Before you shell out the cash and time to do the swap I suggest trying the -13* exhaust cam retard option. Shouldnt disadvantage low end too much at all and a nice top end gain should be noticed. Not trying to talk you out of this mod but *I am speaking from experience* (--> I have the manual trans so I get to take full advantage of those manifolds )

i don't have a NORMAL auto car, so to speak. i have a 3k stall, 3.73 gears, shift kit, adjustable vaccum modulator, ported heads and intakes, the heads have been decked .020 and the head gaskets are .018 thinner than stock. ffp chip, ffp ud pulley, 2.5 magnaflow exhaust, true cai, tapered throttle body, my new motor only has 1100 miles on it. o and with that gear and the ffp chip my car shifts at 7100, i watched it on the tech 2, i did a snapshot. i can spin my tire for 50 feet in a straight away on dry pavement. right now the timing is stock, i don't really want to have my idle all crazy. i just feel the car needs more top end. is there anyway to do that cam timing and not have the car idle like shit? and if anyone knows anything else i can do to this motor let me know. thanks

When I did the 13* retard on the exhaust the idle wasnt bad at all. Just a tiny bit bumpy compared to stock. I have it at -16* now and its pretty rough, and if I let it idle for a few minutes it starts to lope like hell. But 13* no worries, I hardly noticed a difference in idle.

cam timing change to 13 degree exhaust doesnt make the idle crazy, its just not silky smooth like stock. Mine barely lopes. Raising the idle speed a bit will make it so you barely even know. The results are well worth it.

Hey, why don't you try a RSM 72mm bored and ported throttle body/plenum, and a ported lower intake manifold. That should smooth out the flow and give a higher air speed. I've heard that that combo is great for top end. I don't think that the 96' manifold is a good idea, because those are different heads than the 95' it could cause you problems. I think the RSM manifolds would cost about $320USD

96 manifolds bolt to pre-96 heads just fine. You need everything from the lower intake manifold up and 96/97 style lower intake manifold gaskets must be used.
