how much should this cost?

man ,i was waiting to get enough cash to fix my engine "bad ass ",but projects keep popping up,and cash going out.
so.i decided just to fix my heads to get it running (it lost compression on the back head) ,change the timing belt ,and the heater core.
how much should i spect to pay a mechaninc for this job.

also ,would it be better to pport and polish the heads now (or just head a reg. head job) ,so i can latter fool with the upper and lower intake and tb.

any suggestions will be highly app. thanx.
