  • Turbo question

I have a t3/t04e that I was going to use for another project that I never actually got around to doing. I was wondering if this turbo would be a good turbo for my LQ1. It's .60 A/R and .53.

I am in the midst of pulling my motor all apart and i'm trying to figure out exactly what i'm doing to my motor.

Also I have another question about the 62mm and 65mm throttle bodies on the 60 degree store says they are for 3100/3400/3500. Will these work on the LQ1 ?

That's really not enough information to determine the turbo size. Have any wheel sizes or trims? If not, can you measure the wheels? I'm just going to take a guess and say it's too small- most used turbos come from small displacement 4 cylinders.

The 62 and 65mm TB's will not work for the 3.4 DOHC.

Pictures of it are here. I was going to use this turbo on a 1.8L DOHC Asuna Sunfire but never got around to it.

I'm pretty sure this turbo would spool pretty bad ass on a 3.4L DOHC because it was a good turbo for my other motor that was even smaller..

youd get boost at lower rpms, might make you feel faster off the line, but once you get over 3K your motor will probly breathe deeper than what the turbo can supply

that would be a huge turbo... N/A the tdc would flow around 300-330cfm @ 6K. a turbo big enough for 15 psi @ 6K would need to be twice that.

                    I'm running a T04E 60 trim compressor with a T4 P trim turbine side (either 0.58 or 0.68 a/r). I really like the GT35R though. The 60-1 is also a good turbo.

this turbo would prob. work, compressor is a little on the big side but it should work. pluss you get the gate and everything with it. CHEAP!

When I spec'd mine out originally, the 60-1 looked awesome. It was even what Turbonetics recommended. The GT35R will have as much or more high end with MUCH more low end though (the most of all of the turbos I listed). The 60-1 will kill the 60 trim T04E at the high end while again giving up a bit on the low end. The 60 trim seems to be a good compromise for a cheap turbo.

The 60 trim T04E compressor with a T4 p-trim turbine will give a very solid powerband from 3000-6500 rpm with a 3" exhaust.
