  • Um, what? 94 heads

Ok, so I have my 94 longblock almost ready to go. After carefully stuffing the intake ports with rags, I set about matching the gasket surfaces on the heads, and smoothing out one of the radius'

Then I take my 92 apart... And the intake ports look TOTALLY different.

I was under the impression that the 91-95 heads were the same, with changes coming in 96.

The 92 seems to have less volume, with larger, blunter fins that extend almost to the entrance of the port

The 94 seems more "open" with a tighter fin on each valve-stem, but start nearly 3/4" into the port...

No pics for now... but what gives? The exhaust ports for both appear fairly similar, but to be honest, it's hard to tell with the carbon. And I haven't cleaned them out to check yet.

The 94-95 is different, and I believe more changes came in 96, not sure on this. 94-95 may be different due to MAF controlled as compared to MAP on earlier engines.

Id like to see pictures because I have the same casting number for all the heads here, including 94-95. I have 2 95 motors and didn't notice anything different on the one I have taken the intake manifolds off of.

Sure... I'll post 'em later. I did cut into the first 1/2" of the ports, though... The contrast difference might make for some tricky photography.

91-95 are the same casting. Aaron claimed 94-95 flowed better but they are identical from what I have seen. I haven't flowed any yet of course.
