  • Transmission option

Just wanted to post this up as general info on a place to get a transmission for a dohc... also a 6 speed. A bit pricey though.

It's a nice thought... The only thing is that they won't elaborate on how exactly they measured the rated power for those trannies...

450hp on helical-cut gears with synchros sounds a bit far-fetched to me...

    Now, if I could find a straight-cut 4-spd with dog-rings...

    aRRRRrrrrooooooOOOOoooo!

IIRC, those are reworked NSX transmissions.

So do they just change the bell housing to mate up to the GM engine?
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

It doesn't seem to appear anywhere on the WCF site... But I VAGUELY remember the R&D thread from years back on Pennocks. I think you're right, it's an NSX.

They don't even change the bellhousing, they just provide an adaptor plate.

You could find any of honda's transverse 6-speed trannies and make your own plate. It won't run you 7k.... And all the honda trannies are stronger than the GM transaxles. Well, the manuals, anyway.

But you WILL need to do a lot of fabricating work. Clutch arm (I'd go with a cable setup... Mmmmm), shift brackets, and the half-shaft. Grinding down the "cooling fins" would be a fairly no-brainer.

But then again, if you can afford the money, it might be worth the lack of hassle.

            *edit*

And for reference, the brackets that WCF provide wouldn't work on a W-body or other FWD mount... They'd need to be inverted, since the shift cables are reversed on a Fiero.

The "F40" Pontiac G6 six speed seems to be the answer if you want a six speed that bolts up.
