  • Stage 3 Clutch kit

Does anyone know where to get a stage 3 clutch kit for a lumina z34 that has the 3.4 DOHC. thank you.

im pretty sure spec would definatly have one (www.specclutch.com), or else other big companys like clutchmaster, ets.
86 Fiero 3.4 DOHC, 13.9 @ 101 mph as it is on the street.

87 Fiero GT with a 400hp SBC before nitrous, 500-550hp after nitrous.

As a former model rocketeer... Whenever someone says "stage <blah>" I crack up...

In my old hobby, Any stage over 1 meant that something had to explode first...

3-stage clutch... I've had one single-stage clutch before... Having a friction plate shatter at 5500rpm left quite a mess

may want to think twice about that. i hear peeps running 282's are having alot of problems with spec's products. these may occur in a 284 also.

there is a place called clutchnet that makes stage 3 clutches and pressure plates for the 284. the contruction on these parts is very impressive. they look to be very well built.

don't have a link but u should google it and and check them out.

So one of the local parts houses ssays the P/N is the same from a 3.1 lumina as a 3.4 if this is true, why does Spec sell the 3.4TDC clutch stage 3 for almost tripple the price of a stage 3 from a 3.1?

                Hmm...

I know the 284 trans takes a larger clutch setup than the 3.1. And the TO bearings are different. Didn't the 28/3100s all use a 282 rather than the larter 284?

With the Fiero (which is the clutch I'm using) all the clutches are the same, it's the TO bearings that differ.

I'm not sure. He may have looked up the numbers for just the transmission or just the clutch, not the actual kit. Thats good info to know though about the T/O bearing

They definetly are not the same clutch. Push vs pull type.

The 284 uses a pull-type clutch, vs. the push-type on the 284/muncie/saginaw/Isuzu, correct?

damn it, beat me to it. i was getting ready to say they can't be the same. b/c only the wbody 3.4tdc's recieved the getrag 284 and as mentioned the clutches are pull on the 284 vs the push type of the 3.1 tranny(most likely a 282).

as far as i know the only interchangable part is the flywheel and it must be neutrally balanced not counterweighted.

i am telling you give clutchnet a look. they have a variety of clutches and a few different pressure plates to choose from as well. they advertise a 2x but if u ask, they can make a 3x but it will not be very streetable.

not only that, they can do custom stuff too.

really i was thinking about buying from clutchnet.com but they don't give h/p ratings or anything just stop lights lol red being the highest level of course. but around 150-175 shipped for a whole ebay kit is worth the gamble i'd say.

you will have to be ready by thursday or friday
