  • Ahite! What now?

I feel like a dog that caught the car. What do I do with it? Just bought these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

I know first thing is to get them home and tear them down.... Then what? Note that they are both 94s. I have my doubts about the bent valve.

Well, like the seller said, you can cannibalize one engine to make the other real good. If the one has a bent valve, you can just swap in a head from the other one or what-have-you, and it's good as new! If I'd had the ability to get to/from Kentucky I would have jumped this immediately. My 6000 is sad right now, with the Iron Duke in it. This would have been a perfect swap.

Ya, no doubt. 94 was a non interferance motor.

Clean them up, tear them down, label the parts, and see what you got I wanted to get them as well but no easy way to get them. Ive got a 3100 and a 3400 now though and a 95 DOHC so I got enough motors for the moment.

If the one head has a bent valve, I wanna see a pic of it and the piston.

You got it. And Ben, how much have I spent, just trying to find a set of heads? This will be fun! 2 complete LQ1s for the price of 2 cheap tires. And I still have 1 in my car.

No doubt, should have just waited it out for this one (two).

Well, the "Twins" are home and nestled in their garage. I'm a little confused about the twins part however. One has a manual flywheel mounted to it, so obviously it can't be a 94. Can I tell by casting numbers? Or what are some other differences? They both look identical except for the plastic injector covers. Both have the one piece TB/plenum.

BTW, I asked John to join our little club. (He has 2 94 Cutty Ragtops) ((Homer Drool))

I will have them both disassembled, labled, and catagorized by the end of the week. Then the fun begins.....

BTW rebel, the thought has crossed my mind.

                    1994+ says 3.4 DOHC
1991-1993 says Twin Dual Cam V6.

I have one of each to swap out when I'm feelin froggy.

Also, check the oil presure sending units. 1994+ will be much smaller because it was a light instead of a guage.

I understand the 91-93 part, but my 94 has a gauge. So I obviously have a 94 and a 91-93. I thought so. The 91-93 also has Emission tubes on the exhaust manifolds. Is that right?

Any difference in the block itself? And what other differences can I expect?

Emmissions tubes? think that means its a 5 speed motor IIRC.

Well, just as I thought, no valves bent. Engine I'm using looks really good inside. Sorry no pics yet, my internet is down, and I'm using companies PC.

Neat thing about LQ1, shreds the belt, all flats go striaght up.
