Anyone have a part by part breakdown of turbocharging and associated prices? I want to see what the most expensive parts are, so I know what is gonna be the killer on price.

I'm with Husky, and I think a part by part break down would give those of us that have no clue whats involved, a better sense of how big the job is. I've never looked into a turbo before, never had a vehicle worthy of one till now, so I only know the basics and how things work.

Like time said a nice setup is around 2-3gs. Mine personaly might me a little more becuase I am going a step further than the average joe. I can give you a parts list as far as I know
          1. TURBO
          2. INTERCOOLER
          3. FMU
          4. WASTEGATE
          5. INTERCOOLER PIPING
          6. CUSTOM EXHAUST MANIFOLD
          7. CUSTOM DOWNPIPE
          8. GAUGES- BOOST,FUEL PSI, A/F, OILTEMP, OIL PSI, VAC
          9. BOV
          10. FEED LINE/RETURN HOSE
          11. FILTER
          12. BOLTS
          13. FLANGES
          14. GASKETS
          15. WELDING
          16 SILICONE
          17. EXTERNAL OIL TANK
          18. FUEL PUMP
          19. WIRES
          20. CERAMIC COATING
          21. ADAPTER INTERCOOLER PIPE
          22. I HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET BUT A BETTER WAY TO COOL THE WATER
This what I could think of off my head. Now a new engine or an engine rebuilt would be a good idea if running over 10psi in my opinon.

Expect to spend $500 to $1000 on a turbo. If you go with a GT series, it will be $1000-$1500.

An E-bay intercooler can be had for $300 or so. Try to fit the largest that will possibly fit. It may result in a bit more lag, but will have a lower pressure drop and hopefully also better efficiency. (mine was about $500 and required a custom radiator support)

A new WG and BOV will cost about $450. Used 1G DSM bov's go for about $20 at junkyards. An internal wastegate is a possibility, but costs about the same as an external.

                  FMU's are about $100-$200 new.

New air filter, all piping, gauges, vacuum hoses, T's, flanges, silicone connectors, and remaining parts can easily add another $1000.
