I picked up an Eaton M62 from a 1992 Buick, and I've got it rebuilt and ready to go. I'd like to use this as a starting point on boosting an LQ1. I'm going to be fabricating a lower intake manifold(gonna need help there) and using a modified 1997 LQ1 ThrottleBody(gonna need some help there too). My main questions at this point(I'm going to be running a 2.3 inch ZZP Pres-On pulley, stock size was like 2.5 inches), am I going to need to upgrade the injectors/fuel delivery system, and what am I goign to need to take into consideration when fabricating the LIM(What kind of materials, coolant lines/passages, etc) Also, is there any reason not to use a metal coupling instead of stock/ZZP plastic one?

Eaton M62 is really way too small for a "lq1"
Plus this topic has been covered alot across this board, fiero.nl and realfierotech.com
The last guy gave up on the idea and went turbo.
Not saying it cant be done. Youll need the M119(?) or at a bare minumum the M90 but even the M90 has been proven on paper to be too small for the air requirements of the dohc.

Well, I have been around here for a couple years now. I have yet to see anybody do, or come close to building a blown LQ1. I think it's great, if we would offer a little support maybe we could have some headway made in this area. Oddly enough one of the biggest reasons people seem less likely to do a SC instead of a TC is simply hood clearance.
I say, go for it. Maybe with a bigger blower, but you are definatily on the right track. We are here to help.

I'd go bigger blower, but I got a perfect condition M62 for 25 dollars, and that's about the only super in my budget. I'm lookin into a morad M90, or a SuperCoupem90(don't know bout that one). Plain and simple: I have a M62. I can't afford anything else unless you guys have a M90(don't care what shape it's in if anyone had a totally ruined one) for <40 bucks shipped (unreasonable, I know. That's why I have an M62). I'm going to put the M62 on. And no, shaun, I don't think it's easy. I think it's going to be one of the hardest things I've yet tried to do on a car. I am fully aware that I am going to have to custom make a lower intake manifold, I am aware that THAT will be incredibly hard for me. I am aware that I am going to have to completely rework my power steering system. I am aware that THAT will be incredibly hard for me. I know I'm goign to have to use a completely different PCV system, and THAT will be hard. I know I am going to have to custom fabricate or rig the hell out of everythign from the block up, heads not included. Thing is, I don't care. I plan to do it anyways. I Don't want a crate. Hell, I don't want it to run. My car is Budget Performance. I have a free garrett and free eaton. Now I'm going to start getting parts for both, and mock them up in turn on the dummy engine. I bet I can boost for under a hundred dollars, and boost reliably and well for under 250.
