Air Intake

Can anyone tell me who sells an air intake for a 96-97 3.4L DOHC? I know everyone loves the Cold Air versions, but I don't want to move my battery for awhile, and have had to rig up an intake since I have the 96-97 Crate motor installed in my 1992 Cutlass. I had ordered one, but it looks like the pipe fits a 3400 push rod motor.

check out my cardomain. i built one from scratch that didnt move the battery.
my last change i did to it, only had the battery rotated, but the first setup i used left the battery in the stock location. it is pretty easy. i have a complete writeup on it all. go luck

Try ebay. I got mine at autozone. It was a honda civic intake. I cut off about 5 inches off the long end and it fit perfectly. No problems. Cost about $60. Sounds nice too.

you can go to an exhaust shop and see if the have a 3" mandrel bend scrap like this one

or buy 180 mandrel u and cut it and do it like this. i had to move the horns and washer res. look here

or do the civic thing mentioned before

Here is a pic of the civic thing. I liked it b/c there is already a hole for the sensor on the bottom and a plug for that hose thing. I like that one you have pwmin. What kind of heat wrap did you use?

thx: i just painted it with some silver i had laying around, but im going to powdercoat it "chrome" or paint it with high-temp aluminum paint and wrap it with some header wrap i have laying around. im going to hide most of it under a metal panel im going to build.

Thanks guys.. although it seems like a lot of the 3.4L DOHC community still doesn't understand how different the intake for the 3.4L in 1996/1997 was. That was my issue the first time. They sent me one for a 1991-1993 set up. Then wouldn't talk to me a month later when the engine was installed. I have a different one coming, if it works, i might make the boy some business.

Have you talked to d.o.h.c yet? I just ordered a CIA from him and I don't need to move the battery. The washer fluid tank yes, but not the battery.

A CAI that you don't have to move the battery on? let me know about this one. I have been trying to decide if i am keeping the 92 as stock as possible.. but I think I am going to keep the convertible that way.. but just incase, major modifications are still out..

but let me know, send me a pic, give me an idea.. if you can't tell i am a bit interested d.o.h.c
