  • spark plug questions

Stock plugs are NGK TR5, I am running TR6's which NGK says are good for about 100hp more then stock. After reading and looking at pictures, it looks as if I might be overheating them (bright white insulator, whiteish ground strap).

When I was running TR5's I had to pull the timing back an extreme amount so it wouldn't ping/knock, enough that it pretty much refused to accelerate. Put TR6's in and I could run more timing, around what the stock curve is and the engine felt normal again

Now I know that I am not running 100hp more then stock so the TR6's should work, and they may, I don't know. I just plain out need some help.

As so kindly pointed out by Dave, I didn't ask any questions. So:

    -which spark plug
-why is my idle so rough, sounds like its misfiring
-why do TR5's with a NA spark curve on 93 octane knock
-could someone explain what blowing out the spark feels like
-and aside from fouling sooner, colder plugs will do no harm?
