Holy cats! Are you forcing air into that puppy? That would be a nightmare to tune to get it to idle. Good luck with it.

bolting on a 96 to a 91-93 shouldn't be too bad. Just have to re-route and extend a few wires, and reroute a few vaccuum and radiator hoses. On mine, I had to move the MAP to the front, ICM to the top (crowded but you can change it in like 20 minutes) extend the wires for MAP, TPS and IAC. You will need the Upper lower intake manifold, Throttle Body, Fuel rail with regulator, the two metal extensions from the rail to the lines.2014 Chevy Cruise LT

only reason i have a 96-97 intake is i wanted to upgrade the tb.
but i do believe that the 96-97 heads are better. i think a 91-95 intake on 96-97 heads would be a nice combo.
more food for thought
the data i have gotten from a 5spd(284) it seems faster acceleration-wise but i think the auto's may have more top end. not 100% though
i have only driven the 91-93 and 94-95 computer setup and the 94-95 maf setup is much smoother running. The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

The one thing I know about automatics is the 1-2 RPM upshift gap is eve worse than a 284. It may pull like a bat in first gear, but depending on your power output, your 2nd gear start RPM will be anywhere between 3800-4200 RPM. And you don't get the full use out of the motor because it won't wind out to 7000 RPM, unless Ben revises your chip, but then the longevity of the transmission is in question. Considering it's 100 lbs. lighter, has good ratios, and can handle the revs and then some, I'd still say the 284 is the better tranny, and I still think the 96 intake is the way to go IF you have a manual. It's all about top end when you have a stick.I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.
