  • turbo piping kit

i have some projects in the forefront but i plan on offering this in the mid-long term as an actual retail item.

for those of you that don't know, i have acquired user brian89gp's car. if u want to see it go to www.brian89gp.com

coming with his car is an entire turbo kit, which i plan on sharing with the community by taking his reseearch and opening it up to the community by taking the piping to a shop and having everything copied.

you will still be responsible for plumbing the oil/coolant, relocating the battery to the trunk for clearence of the turbine itself, turbo selection, getting an extra front manifold to flip around, tuning and intercooler if u wish to have one.

while this car does have an intercooler, it will take me some time to come up with a kit for it i think..

usually the hardest and most expensive part other than dyno tuning is all the hours of fabrication it takes to get the piping made.

i am willing to take this hurdle out of the equation for you. this piping will work on auto's as well as 5 spd cars but i am not sure about the 5th gen montes.

i am not sure what it will cost to make all the piping yet so stay tuned.

if this is something you guys would be interested in(no commitment) just chime in and lmk.

if i get enough interest, i will eventually carry my ass to the shop and get it done at which point i may submit it to the 60v6 store for approval.

p.s. keep your peepers peeled b/c after i go through the car i may be able to mass produce whatever he has done to plumb the oil/coolant and add it in the kit as well.

Sounds like a great plan. I was planning on doing all my own "unique" piping since I have three different applications (GP, and two Fieros) that I'll eventually be working on. Keep us updated.

    92 GP GTP 3.4DOHC 5spd
    88 Fiero Formula CONVERTIBLE 3.4DOHC 5spd
    84 Fiero T-Top 3.4DOHC 5spd
There seems to be a pattern there.

sounds interesting. what would the kit come with. Would it come with suggustions on what you should you use for the other pieces.

well it is still a while from this being offered since the car hasn't even showed up yet. so i am open to input. for now the definate offering will be all the piping needed to run a turbo setup(no intercooler) for either a 5 spd or auto application.

things i will be looking into will be after i get the setup and study it are: doing a 5th gen monte interchange comparison.

doing the coolant to and from the turbo in a kit, doing a return side to the pan in the kit (pressure side seems easy) perhaps selling injectors needed to go along with it depending on availability. on a side note injectors will only be supplied on request i.e. you will have to tell me what size u want and i will see if i have a set. lastly, selling a turbo but terms and conditions will be same as above, will be customer request and availability only.

things i am neutral about, doing an intercooler kit. mainly b/c different peeps will want different intercoolers, so i do not see any merit here.

things i will not consider are TUNING. be it HELP, SUGGESTIONS OR HERESAY. you should either already know what u want or what you are doing or hire some1 that does. this will be mainly for a liability standpoint. i.e. "dohcfiend said this and now i blew up my engine, time for a chargeback!!!"

What did brian89gp do to the car for tuning for computer?

i belive he said he had ben (sappyse107) made him a chip which he ran with 36 lb injectors for about 7-8 psi.

Bunch of Motorola 68HC11 assembly programming.

I rewrote the 93 BCFA chip to use two MAP sensors. The original 1 BAR was retained as a BARO sensor, I remapped all of the code pointers for for it from the original calculated value to the actual filtered value from the sensor. I then wired in a second MAP sensor, this one a 2 BAR (I forget what lines I hooked it up to). The main spark table kPa reference was moved to the 2 BAR calculated value. I then transplanted the boost fuel multiplier tables from the TGP into the chip and added the pointers from the fuel multiplier tables to it.

In hindsight, the MAP based ECU's for the 60v6 are the largest cludge of an operating system I have seen, there are way too many similarities with the original ECU's from the 80's with hack jobs done to add features.

For OBD1 the 94-95 LQ1 MAF ECU is probably the best bet, it is rather similar to the OBD1 3800 ECU's and is the most capable v6 OBD1 ECU that I know of. The code is also a bit cleaner and easier to work with if you are into assembly programming (which honestly it doesn't need)

what's happenin brian? what have you been up to?

on the piping i have an update. since i have wrapped up the covers and the timing gear covers are in development, i have an intake to have machined but hasn't arrived yet.

my schedule is fairly clear other than maintainence on my own car.

not really a big market but the 1st offering will only be for 91-93 5 spd cars.

then after some downpipe modifications, i will step up to 91-94 maybe 95 autos.

so hopefully in about 2-3 weeks the 5 spd models will be available.

I'm interested in just a downpipe and crossover that way we can run the intake and pressurized piping however we want(like an intercooler). Any idea what price would look like for somethign like that?

that is what i plan on offering. (just the pipes). i have no idea on price as of yet. it depends on what it cost me to get the ones i have copied with mandrel bends.
