  • 48 gram lifters

So i would imagine that they increase low end a bit, possible alittle hp, but wat is the main reason for putting these in. What kinda of tools would u need, are there special lifter removal tools and if so where could one be had. Last is there a good guide in this site somewhere to show how to remove them and or get to them.

    Thanks Joel

    RE: 48 gram lifters

You have to pull the cam carriers to remove the lifters, and they fall right out. Main reason for putting them in is to replace the old worn out lifters. Other than that, they should help raise the valvetrain redline ability without going to stiffer springs, less valvetrain mass can give a slight increase to throttle response and hp as well. We don't really have much for walkthroughs on the engine tear down. You would have to redo your cam timing, and check the cam carrier to head gaskets as well since the carriers must come off.

I wouldn't go through the trouble unless your lifters need to be replaced or you are doing other work which requires the timing belt to come off anyway.

yea true and I have never really done any timming. I did some math and found that you would lose a total of 1.5 lb with the new lifters. 77 gram stocks total 1848 wiht 24 lifters, 48 gram 1182 total. 453 grams in lb so 1.536424 lb lost one the valve train. which I think may have some hp there not alot but I think some will be seen. timming huh well that is the only thing that scares me. i may just have the guy that did my timming for 430 which I think is rather cheap, thats parts and all, do it for me if i do get them.
