PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you some higher resolution pics. I'm using 2 stock front manifolds- one is backwards on the rear head. The crossover is custom and does feed both banks directly into the turbo.
for rods, You can use "sbc 327" Small journal rods, have them narrowed and re-tanged for V6 bearings, then you either have the small end bushed, or the custom pistons hogged out (by ross) to take .927" pins These rods can always be found on ebay for about 280$ for a set of 8. Forged H beam 4340 steel rods.
Done deal. Still going to cost alittle over a grand or so though. But it would be pretty dam stout.
Tim, what does your 02 sensor read at when you do your runs or driving around. Mine with the turbo and some tunning is running happy at around the low to mid 700mv range. IIRC, 450 is stoich. I really just wanna see where you have yours tunned as a good reference.
I am running sealed power hyperutetics pistions but cant find a forged crank. the rods them self are forged all they really need to be is shot peened. I think the bottom end of my 3.4 will be as stong as it gets with out custom made parts. any body know where to get some new forged rods, also how about a forged cranks.
Forged crank... The crank from a 2004-2005 malibu's 3500 is a forged, modifyable drop in piece. The timing notches need to be cut or milled into the reluctor wheel, and the three reluctors that are already in place need to be removed. The crank pins on this crank are 2.25" in diameter witch is more then any other 660 up to its day. You would have two options from there: you can either cut the crank pins down, (to 2.1" so you can use LJ SBC rods) witch will remove the rolled fillets and decrease strength. Or you can use Performance 4.3 rods, witch have the 2.25" journals, and have the width modified of course. However, it is not known weather or not this combination will fit in the crank case. GM states it won't, but then again, the crank and rods didn't really fit in a 383, and how many of those are around? This particular route is the one I plan on taking once I can lay the reasearch work to rest. The 3.4 DOHC might have adequate swing room where a pushrod might not, but that is to be confirmed. Theoretically there is going to be about 1/8" more room needed all the way around the rods swing area then stock, and that really isn't much. We will see.
