It would be nice to be there at the meet, next year I guess. I'm really interested to see the 1/4 mile times of your ride Ben! With all the work that a variety of members are now conducting we should have some solid answers to a lot of questions within the next couple of months.

I really want to see these pistons, and what kind of portwork yielded these results. Must have done something right.

do you plan on switching to the later style intakes or a custom one at all? What about headers?
3.4 DOHC- 95 engine, custom intake manifold, custom cams, ported exhaust manifolds, Turbonetics T-62, Haltech standalone, 13.5 psi, air/h20 intercooler... yadda yadda...

There are still lot's of things I want to add. The purpose of releasing the dyno numbers now was to show what this engine was capable of with just proper head work and a good tune. There has been a lot of speculation that the way to build power was with headers, intake swaps, larger throttle bodies and a different cam time. Although these are all mods than have the ability to make power, without the proper head work they offer minimal gains as compared to head work without these additions. Aarons car was a perfect example of this, we had a few discussions about this on another forum. His best run was 218WHP with all the bolt ons and swaps, 40WHP below mine with virtually no bolt ons and only 21WHP above my old engine that I took out of the car (197WHP), it was all stock with the exception of a short ram intake, exhaust, a tune and 350,000km!

I am quite sure that the addition of these mods on this engine with the heads done will reap many rewards, how much is anyones guess. The car will have some 1/4 mile runs on it here soon, then it's back in to retard the exhaust cams. We will then dyno the car again to get the exact gains from this mod. After that it will be headers and a few different intake manifolds and throttle bodies. I doubt that I will do a 96+ swap, more likely we will have a few custom manifolds to test.

I have a number in my head that I would like to see with the cams re-timed, but after that I really have no idea what to expect with the rest of the mods. Regardless of the numbers, they will be shared with everyone here. The biggest thing that I'm sure all of you guys have noticed is that I take my time, I don't rush stuff together, so I will be adding the headers and intake manifold over the winter when the car is off the road. This will give me about 6 months to get it right.

Hey Shaun, Lightspeed Innovations has asked me to direct all the questions about my heads to them. There is a lot of r&d spent on them and I don't know how much of that info they want to share at this time. You can PM him.

              Kev.

His user name is Dr.Lightspeed or you can email me and I will forward the messages, I'm usually down at his shop a few times a week.

Why dont' you go ahead and fwd my question to him then..

I am asking for flow numbers. That doesnt' really give away any secrets as to what they did with the heads as far as machine work.

I'm not saying that it does Shaun. It will be up to him as if he wants to share that info or not. I don't have those numbers to share with you even if I wanted to. I have sent him an email to PM you.

they are your heads, if you paid for the work you should have acces to every number and specification associated with them.

I can see where this is going to go in a hurry...

Again, I have been asked to tell everyone here to direct the questions about the heads to Dr.Lightspeed.

Can I get the numbers? Of course I can. Does having the numbers mean anything to me? Not really. Lightspeed Innovations asked me not to indulge any info about them and I'm fine with that. If you guys have a problem with this, tough shit. Contact Lightspeed Innovations, I made a deal with them, and just like if you guys made a deal with someone - it's going to be honored.

its good to hear that you arent done with it, i had assumed that you werent. I'd like to see the other gains that you get particularly with the cam timing and headers. Are you doing a complete custom intake setup, or just porting yours out? I'd imagine that you will be able to see 300 whp with everything you plan on doing, sounds exciting. I'd like to see some custom cams thrown in the mix too!

I doubt that I will swap on the 96+ intake, we are working on designing and fabricating a few different intake manifolds. I was also offered a set of custom cams last week, they seem like they would work nicely on the top end but would have had a serious hit to the bottom end torque - I declined to purchase them. I've got a great torque number and would like to see it stay up for a while. I'm sure though that after the new intake manifold and headers are installed the 13* cam retard won't cut it - that will be when we go ahead and have some cams made up for the engine. It will be nice to have a set made to spec for this engine, but like I said in a previous post - that won't be until this winter.

Get the car on the track on the 20th, then retard the cams and do it all over again.
