    Just q quick update here, I've had a few problems with ecu's so I bought a new one and dropped it in tonight along with the MSD DIS-4. We re-tuned the car for this Saturday (another drag event) with a bit of a different curve to it. These are the numbers we will be running with this weekend;

    250WHP, 250WTQ

    The sacrifice of 7WHP sure seems worth it in the 20WTQ gained. It pulls quite a bit stronger through the mid range compared to the other tune, so we'll see what it produces for track times.

    And by the way, the DIS-4 totally changed the car. Very smoothed out idle, a smoother WHP curve and additional WTQ. Instead of a fairly smooth torque line I now get a much stronger pull and bump in the mid section. It also leaned the car out about half a point in that area so we threw some more fuel at it. So with the addition of a clean air filter, new rapid fire plugs and the MSD DIS-4 we picked up roughly 20WTQ. I certainly would recomend this system to modified LQ-1 owners.

    Next up, a few different cam times.

          The only real 'mod' unique to Lightspeed is the head design. Anybody can copy what I did. I'm listing all my mods and sharing all my build up information and results with everyone here in hopes that it will help you guys build your own projects. Then when you guys use some of this info I've provided and find ways of improving things you in turn can share it with the community as well.

          I'd like to think that we're all here to help each other out.

            that is pretty nice of you. too bad ligthspeed doesn't feel the same way. i too plan on rebuilding my motor but using a different path and more conventional techniques hopefully it will be somewhat close to what you are getting. that is a mighty high benchmark for the dohc though i must admit.

                I have a pick of them I'll share with you, they were not flat tops. Lemme dig out that CD and add it to my photobucket site. I really should get that site done - I've got another 40+ pics to post.

                  Well shit! My season is done a few weeks early this year. I got out to the track yesterday, some shit different day - no traction. I dropped the tire pressures down to 20lbs and warmed them up in the burnout box, it did seem to help but I still am having a ton of problems hooking up. So first run was a 14.95 at 92.98 with a 2.2 60' and .098 reaction, not bad for the first run of the day. I did however think that I heard a 'grind' when I shifted into second. The second run came in at a 14.88 at 93.24 with a 2.3 60' and a .208 reaction, that was so far my best time, and this time I really heard a grind going into second. The third run would be the last, .034 reaction, lots of tire spin, and there would be no shift into second. It just ground the gears, I threw the clutch in a let it coast down the track. When I got onto the service road I stopped, accelerated in first and attempted a shift into second (only doing about 25km/h), no can do, just grinding. So I guess that's it for the second gear syncro.

                  Now I really have my work cut out for me this winter, intake swap, cam time, headers and try to find parts or another tranny.

                    I've got a parts tranny, dude. We could work something out this spring for it. After my run today, my season is also over, but I choose to ed on a high note rather than risking breaking anything else just for a couple more hundredths.
                    I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

                      Thanks, I will take you up on the offer, I'll chat with you on msn about it. As I said in your thread, great run man, now I have something to chase next year.

                      • ok head stuff is off limits.

                        hey kevwood, can you share any of the tuning info on your motor????

                        i know it isn't really made for another motor but it would be a helluva lot better baseline for me to go off of then stock. right now funds can't afford me dyno tuning.

                        • I would like to share it with you if I thought it would help, I doubt that my ecu tuning will be any good to you. The difference in the tune before and after the rebuild is night and day, I had to throw a whole bunch of fuel at it since the rebuild/heads, where as before the build I was taking fuel away.

                            • If you had to add fuel, your motor is a lot like mine. I can tell how much fuel I'm using based on my fuel pressure ands injector pulse width. Could you provide what you're running for fuel pressure and what your injector pulse width is at W.O.T since you are running stock injectors?

                              • Yes, I'll find that out for you, I'm pretty sure the fuel pressure is 43psi but I will double check. It will all be data logged on Lightspeeds dyno.
