That was him, back then it was called Diablo Power Products. I posted that I found a tuner that put 189WHP down in my auto with nothing more than a short ram intake, exhaust and chip. My auto bone stock put down 149WHP. We also posted that we were about to begin building the car to lay down over 200WHP all motor with the auto tranny. We got bombarded with 'bullshit' comebacks and decided to leave the site. It wasn't until after we rebuilt the motor and dropped it back in with the 225WHP result that we decided to post again - we all remember how that went over! :P

Anyways, yeh, that was him - now you get the idea of how long we've been at this. I had a lot more hair back then...

And yes Ben, there is some type of dye that he uses, makes the fluid look like silver flecks in the high intensity light. I know Cam will share pics of it after he has the lock up on this innovation.

Some interesting info about modifing the quench area of a pentroof combustion chamber head and porting. http://www.se-r.net/about/200sx/scc/feb98/february.html

96-97's have cloverleaf chambers... I believe they have EXCELLENT chamber shape and with time focused on proper porting and piston design... I think they have some serious potential. At the very least, the heads still have HUGE ports. Thats the reason I chose to go with a 96 motor for my rather lofty power and range of drivability goals. I plan on having the pistons mirror the cloverleaf shape.

Just a little update here. I now have the Falken 255 45 17's on it, mounted up on my 17" Eagle 077's. My traction issues were all as but gone, were.

I took the car back to Lightspeed and we road tunned it, the bottom end was WAY rich, after we leaned it out it was a different car out of the hole. The downside to this is that my traction problems are back again. Even launching it at 3K proves to be an issue. When I get my MSD installed we are going to play around with pulling some timing out on the bottom end for launches. I guess I should also think about getting some drag slicks for the front so I can launch at a decent rpm. I might try to see if I can play with some different offset rims (like +20mm) and toss on a set of 275's. We'll see. Going to Bud Park here in Edmonton on September 17th, they have a street legal drag event that night.

So anybody here have drag radials? What kind of results have you had with them?

Because the MSD has a launch retard and staging function. Just a flip of the switch and the functions are on or off.

You are only talking about 3k and lower though with that right? Its not like you would ever really need to turn it off honestly, if you programmed it for the higher MAP readings at lower RPM, where you aren't going to be during normal cruise or normal driving. That would be consistant, no switches to flip off and on.

I see what you mean, yeah that would be easier. I don't think that it will be below 3K though, pretty sure the launch will be above that. With the wider tires and the track with VHT I'm sure I can get a good launch over 3K.

                        What were you launching at?

My tires suck, so I can't launch, hence my piss poor 60 foot (2.4). I launch at around 2k.

I get 2.35's on my S2000 and about 2.3's on the Monte. The Monte got traction (severe heat soak + no boost off the line sucks) and the S2000 had no traction no matter whether I bogged or burned. There's another S2000 driver getting the exact same 1/8 mile times, but 10 miles per hour slower (only slightly modded, but with slicks)... 8.5@88 mph in my S2000, 9.5@78 in my monte Keep in mind, I did no track prep on either and it was my very first time ever at the track.

How do you launch with the automatic? I know these cars are capable up sub 2.2 60 foot, so something is wrong. In my case, hard 225 tires that are low on tread. That and I can't drive a stick that fast yet nor launch. My best time is 15.7, josh drove a 15.4 with it first time driving my car.

                                Great sig Ben...

I was getting 2.1 60' in my auto car (15.3 @ 91). I loaded it up to 2,500rpmish and let go on the last yellow. I've really been having problems learning to drive this stick though, launching it is a bitch with this damn clutch. I seem to be either bogging it off the line or roasting the tires off of it. I picked up a Gtech RR yesterday so I can go out and practice my launches and data log. That should be the best way to find the sweet spot. Then again, the sweet spot on the street is voided out when you get on the track with a fresh coat of VHT. Guess it will just be a bunch of embarassing runs at the track trying to find it.
