at the strip here, they only run bikes against bikes or bike alone. They run bike vs snowmobile too.

ok, the comment about

Obviously this person was like me 15 years ago and has NO IDEA how lawyers, juries or the law works. I know plenty of lawyers that would gladly take the case and win if you were racing and a car hit a motorcycle, signed liabilty or not. There are plenty of things that would say they were making it unsafe.

Speaking as someone who owns a SuperSport Bike and a bunch of 60degreeV6 cars. I wouldn't be afraid of anyone who was running anywhere near my class of bike swerving into my lane and killing or seriously injuring us both. On a bike it is your machine and your skill versus how far you can push it on a track. Rarely if you were doing your thing right would someone be infront of you enough to cause you problems.

And to give you an idea of speed, a stock 600cc (that is 0.6L for you car guys) weighs under 400lbs, and will run a quarter mile in about 12.5 seconds, STOCK! I didn't get mine below 13 until i put a jet kit on it, but then I weigh 200lbs and am a bit afraid of flipping it off the line, the pros can practically stand them striaght up. but a 12.98 would still whip any stock W platform car that was daily driver road legal.

Yes, I thought I was the first on this site, and what I referring to was sedans with DOHC engines normally aspirated. I don't care about turbo cars, that's a whole different category, which is why I posted about this in the DOHC Performance forum.

12.5s?

The new 600s are running flat 11s consistantly, at least the all out ones (R6, CBR-RR, etc). The 1000s are in the 10s easy, some breaking into the 9s. And few cars, even if they run near the same E/T, can match a bike off the line. I've ridden many many bikes, my favorite being an RC51 (Ran a 10.25), and ridden to the max, it was godly off the line, and also pretty scary.

Well, today was my turn to take one more shot at the record. I went to the dragstrip today armed wth my good buddy Chris's drag slicks. This was my first ever race on slicks, so it was bound to be a learning experience. My first run was decent, 14.919 with a 2.26 60'. It beats my personal best, but I know I can do better. Hot lapped and did another quick run. This time it was 14.911 with a 2.25 60'. Well, that's about the same, what am I doing wrong. I had to wait an hour for our class to be called for its next practice session. This time I launched at 3600RPM. 14.911 with a 2.24 60". I thought this consistency thing I had going was just a fluke. Could I really do this again? And did that mean this was the best I could run all day? That would be disappointing considering my best 60' on street tires was 2.28 and my PB on street tires was 14.93. Now we're into bracket eliminatons, but I don't care about advancing, I want a fast time damn it! Car cooled off for two hours, I rethought how I was launching, hadn't broken the slicks loose all day, but I had been launching the car like I lanch it with street tires, so I said to myself, "This time, when the light turns green, just floor it!" So I got up to the line, wound it up to 3300 RPM, dumped the clutch and floored it. Here is the result (Left lane, apparently Tony Woods had my number and the timing tower never got it right:



I dialed 14.75 just for fun, and ending up beating that! Could not believe it even after I had the ticket for a full minute. So, needless to say, I am completely satisfied with how the car has run this year, and I don't think I have anything else to prove until next year. The only thing that changed between the 14.93 run and now was the addition of slicks. Still had full interior, still running on pump gas. I did pull the headlight, but I did that for the 14.93 run too. I knew the car could do it, I just had to prove it to myself. Today I did, and I couldn't be happier. I only wish I could have caught it on tape, but my cameraman had to leave early. I'll post one of the 14.91 runs he did catch though, just because of how sweet the car looks with those slicks and wheels on.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your run! I'm glad to hear that you were able to hook up and get a decent 60' time. I now know for sure that slicks are in my future. Again, great run bud.
