  • TB and heater coolant lines

Just finished gasket matching and polishing upper and lower intakes ,I will bypass the
    tb coolant line.
There is a line going out of the lower intake (where the thermostat is), that I guess it's the
heater line , if so , I would like to eliminate that too. Don't need heater here.

Please advise if this is possible and safe.

    Thanks

    What year engine is your's?

Since you only mentioned 1 line coming out, I'm assuming a 91-95. In this case, you cannot bypass the throttle body. The line into the TB is cast into both manifolds. When the two line up and clamp down on each other, it creats a passage for the water to flow through. So I guess you could weld a plate in between them, but this is sure to leak, and make for an uneven mating surface between the two, which could cause you to have an intake gasket leak.

As for the heater line, I'd leave it there. This, along with the TB bypass, are used as a pressure release when your RPM is high, and the thermostat is closed. By allowing no place for the coolant to go, your water pump will back up on itself, when your water pressure inside your motor is too high. This can cause water pump failure, cavitation, or it could blow a gasket somewhere in your motor. But yes, you can block it off, just be prepared for whatever results it may have.
