  • Well its about that *time*! Z is almost done.

Ok so motor is coming back together finally. I have the heads and cam carriers on, the timing chain cover and im starting to put COGs on etc.

I jumped on here to start look for cam timeing write ups, and im a little bit confused. The one thats in the DOHC / Performance sections for the 10 or 13 degree retard, shows only the crank pulley being adjusted. Is that correct? am i missing something? I thought the cams themselves have to be turned at various angles not the crank. Yeah im an idiot...set me straight!

This is my first multicam anything, in fact i dont think i have ever even driven a car that wasnt SOHC or pushrod.

So the rebuild was pretty straight forward for me, been there done that (with help of course) The stock timing seems really easy but this alternative timing idea has got me confused. Who has write ups that would take me more step-by-step?

    Thanks!

Did you look at the maintenance section? You can use the tool that is available now to set the timing a whole hell of a lot easier. It involves just setting the crank to TDC and then adusting the cams vs setting the cam flat and adjusting the crank position. Its the same end result, just a matter of how you go about it.

Would be nice to get orders from my store for the timing tools, since I do owe for them:P
