  • Dohc/ Quad 4 lifters.

I remember years back there was a link I had which had info about the lifters being the same from the Q4 and the DOHC? or was it the DOHC and the 2.4L Twin cam? I'm pretty sure it was the 2.3L quad... But I'd like to know for sure.

Anyone remember this? I think it was Ben who might have posted it. Was back about 2 years ago now. But thats when we were on the old GMF crap so cant really search for it on here.

Just curious as with the 48 Gram lifters....
I may know a few guys who would want/use the lightweight lifters in their Quad's/Twin cams. (some of them bore the 2.4L lifter bores from 33mm to 35mm for the cheaper priced 35mm 2.3Lq4 and better high lobe lift cam to lifter contact)

I've been meaning to check the part numbers for both at work, just havnt gotten around to it yet.

    RE: Dohc/ Quad 4 lifters.

They take the same lifter, though GM makes the 3.4 lifters 2 grams heavier than the quad motor. The lifters I sell will drop right into a quad 4 though I haven't tested it. I mean, its all the same stock minus the skirt length, but that hasn't been an issue for me using the light lifters either since they have less skirt than the quad, which has less than the stock 3.4.

Ben could you measure the total length/height of the lifter, Like from the top to the bottom of the skirt.

Thanks. We just want to see what difference there is compared to stock.

I dont have my camera at the house, nor my dial caliper. Ill have to do that tomorrow. There isn't much difference for the quad 4 lifter as far as height goes.

Ok, so Quad and TDC take same 35mm lifter?
          And TC has 33mm lifter?

Got "setup height" info? That's the distance from the tip of the valve stem to the base circle of the cam... the "installed height" of the lifter...

Again, Northstar stuff... and just trying to build a database of early GM DOHC valvetrain data so that anything I come up with can be applied as broadly as possible.

Wonder if N* lifter bores can be overbored to 35 mm...

\'88 Fiero Formula: slow and attention getting; LZ8 followed by LLT power forthcoming
