3.8 modification

Hello. Newbie here, very nice site.

I have not done any mods since I was in my teens, and it was all V8s then. I have an '04 Monte SS with a 3800 that I want to tweak. What is the most cost effective way to do it without ruining the motor. I have heard pros and cons about chips, superchargers and turbos. ASE mechanics tell me SC and turbos will kill the motor in less that 75k miles. What about cams, lifters, etc, that we used to to on the V8's. Is that an option?

ya the 3800 is not a dohc nor is it a 60 degree you might wanna try a site that is geared towards the 3800.
