I found some springs that are 125# with the valve closed, 196# with it at full open (stock cams). Stock springs are 80# and 180# for 91. Thats 45# more at seat and 16# more at peak lift. Wouldn't this setup be better for boost or should I keep looking?

i guess it all depends on what you are looking for. you should rev much higher with those springs, or you could run much more boost than the stock ones. would it be safe to assume, 16 psi more due to it only being 16#'s more at peak? dont want the boost trying to move the valve on its own, probably cause problems. If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

When valves float, the initial stages of float are characterized by the valve bouncing when it comes back to the seat... higher seat loads fix that.
Only at higher RPM's than initial valve float do the valves actually go into a no-follow condition (leave contact with the cam lobe after peak lift).
So yes, those spring swould help. Keep them in mind if you don't find anything else...Current:

I'd be interested as well. As I've stated elsewhere, I plan on running a turbo, and I believe stiffer springs would be useful. As soon as you have a combo that works, it's gonna be up on the store?92 Lumina Z34
Found coolant in the oil and metal in the filter.
Also found a home in the engine compartment for a turbo and intercooler

plus what is the advantage over simply shimming the stockers, assuming that stock cams are going to be used in either case - so that coil bind isn't an issue.
Altho replacing old springs isn't really a bad idea on most of these motors after 125,000 miles or so...

That is my main concern, the age of the springs. Shimming the stock replacement TRW springs will get you back to about stock 91 specs. If your current 91-95 springs are good, which is highly doubtful even with the age, since sitting for lengths of time is also bad for the springs that are under load the whole time.
They don't drop in because of the stock spring seats. I am going to try and modify some seats to work, otherwise I will have to have some made. I am not giving up on looking for other springs just yet but these are worth a shot since they are brand new comp springs.Ben

Ok, I have found a seat that worksI have to modify the stock application seats, then the stock DOHC valve stem seals go around the guide, and the new seat slips around that. I don't have my stem locks here nor my flash card adapter to stick in the laptop, but this is almost officially working. Just gotta lock it down first, then buy more of them to test them in the car. Ill have to sell the springs with the modified seats to fit this application. Im going to get a hold of comp and see what kind of pricing I can get on the springs as well.

No replies...more springs for me then! hahaha. I have several pictures up of the springs and the modified seats.
For those that haven't seen a stock spring alone, its the short fat one. The tall skinny one is the new spring. I should have pricing soon and then hopefully get a set for my car and test them out.Ben

look at pic "spring compare 7" for the simple view
wow; Ben; they look SO different; do you know what the peak redline is for the new spring you are showing? It is considerably thinner, isn't it? Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think people are waiting for your in-car testing........ I am.
thx for all the work.
