RE: 12 sec n/a DOHC Fiero, is it possible?

If my carbed pushrod 3.4 can get into the 13's ....my turbo DOHC should see 12's

Look, im saying if a 3.4L pushrod can get into the 13's.... a worked NA dohc should be able to spank that much.

Im building a turbo dohc which i figure should easily dip into the low 12's.

Sorry if i jumped a few steps in the thought process.

It isn't a matter so much as to getting those numbers with the motor, but rather knowing what you need to get it done. I believe NA you can get deep in the 13s if not 12s or better with enough money thrown at it.

Roofwing boy, stick with LS1s and other engines you can't afford.

Making a 3.4dohc a 12 second motor is going to cost thousands, and you seem to know next to nothing about performance modification.

              Go back to Pennocks.

Where the hell did you get the idea they have no torque and get off the line like dogs??

It had the same or more torque than a 3.4 pushrod. My fiero will light up the tires in 1st and 2nd gear. I have a 3.65 muncie (which I assume you do as well instead of a 4.65)

Its faster than a 4.9 in the 1/4, and would probibly hang with it "off the line" It will be pulling well into the 150mph range.

If you are concerned with torque, by all means get a 4.9.

Looks like you need to do alittle more research.

If you haven't driven a car with this motor mated to a 5 speed, you a missing out. Thats the real beauty of this motor. The auto can be modded to work nicer, but the 5 speed just has the gearing the LQ1 needs to really enjoy it fully.

Pics can be seen in this thread

The 3.4 pulls like crazy to 100mph. I've had mine to 120 and backed off in fear of my winter tires blowing. There is no reason it shouldn't go 155mph and this is a mostly stock engine.

There is no lack of torque, and low range torque only applies to 1/2 a second in 1st gear... The rest is all powerband.

This is a sports car like engine. It does not have gobs of torque, and that is fine. It doesn't need it.

Heads flow just fine. Need to get rid of the other restrictions before you consider porting heads.

Well, I disagree with those "keys" but I guess we all have our opinions and facts to come up with a list. Decked heads is on my list of "who cares". Heads have plenty of issues stock, short runner intake sucks ass for sub 5000 RPM, cam regrinds aren't proven yet and retiming is free. Headers I do agree with, stock manifolds are shitty for performance.
