    any up close pics would be great

    -94 GTP - Stock, But needs new:
    Door, Steeringwheel, fender, windshield and window for new door, and power steering line.

        What I am doing:

        battery in trunk with 1 gauge wire. optima battery.
        Home depot get a 3" sheet metal facing used for chimneys or something.
        It's about 12" x 16" with a 3" taper in the middle. Cut some of the metal in my engine bay where the battery sat, nothing major. Pull wheel well cover thing drivers side. Cut the sheet metal facing to match the opening. Attach with sheet metal screws. Looks nice, I saw it on a 95 MC a while ago. I would not use PVC, rather flex pipe. my 2c, pics when I am done.

          Im gonna do basically what I think you are talking about...build a box around the batt tray so the cone cant possibly take air from the bay...and also this way I can have the nose of the cone in the fender, but not have to squeeze the entire thing in there.

          Flex pipe is easy, and will prolly look better, but if it's the kind I am thinking of, I dont like all the ridges through out the tube. I know it prolly doesnt make a difference, but Im a little Obsessive Compulsive about those things, and I see them and think "turbulence!"

          Gemmer that would look like shit dude.

          I'd be embarrassed to open my hood....

          If covering my engine bay in paisley wall paper made my car a couple 10ths faster in the quarter, I would so do it

          but yea, a couple coats of flat black or a slightly glossy black (whatever its called when its shiney but not very reflective) and I doubt any non car person would even look twice at it.

            I wouldn't call it a squeeze to fit the filter in the fender, there is a bunch of room down there.

                one thing to be aware of with a fenderwell or similar cold air intake is the driveability issue. Is this a daily driver? Will it run in the rain, and more importantly through puddles? I have seen and helped and heard more about the problems when water (in excess amounts!) gets into the intake. Everything from a gulp of water killing the motor temporarily (not sure exactly what happened but it started 1-2 days later) to bent rods in a 1.8L Acura that took a major gulp.
                The point is that the airbox has a built in water deflector/bypass that is functional and necessary (for a daily driver..) and you lose that with pretty much any cai. No doubt a lot of guys will dispute the effectiveness or need for one, but you think about it and decide for yourself. The factory puts them on EVERY single car made.

                    I have never had a problem with water, other than my filter is fucking dirty and probably acks like a 20 year old paper filter, but it doesn't bother me.

                    However my red car, with its factory airbox, managed to get soaked, it had water in and on everything inside of the motor. Lotta good that factory airbox did, it was a fucking resevoir afterwards :P
