  • A few quick questions

well im still working on my superchaged 5 speed gtp project car and now i need to know
1: where can i buy after market injectors that will work with the superchager and snap into our fuel rails and intakes.
2: what kind of map sensor do i need and where do i get it?
3: where can i take my car to get tuned after the supercharger is installed?
4:what else do i need to succesfully complete the supercharging?
where do i buy an msd igniton that will work on our cars?
5: how much should i expect to pay for all this stuff?

    Thanks

No offense but I am slightly amazed that you have gotten this far into the project without knowing this stuff.

1)You can buy aftermarket injectors anywhere, ebay, summit, anywhere. You just need to know what size you need, and that I can't help you with. But as far as injectors snapping in, their exterior dimensions are pretty much all the same.

2)I'd assume just a 2 bar MAP sensor, of which you can also get pretty much anywhere. But i am not sure on this one, I do know that they are using them on the turbo apps.

3)Tuning, someone on the boards I'd suggest. SappySE107 does a lot of tuning, and on a 91, he could probly help you. But you'd need to drive out there, and supply beer I'd assume.

4)I don't know how far along you are...But you do need a supercharger, the belts aligned, etc.

?)You can get an MSD anywhere, but do research and talk to MSD about what one you will need to run a 6 cylinder supercharged.

    5)A lot.

If you are going to be dropping crazy cash into this project, go with a standalone engine management system like a Haltech or Holley Commander. It will make life TONS easier when trying to get it to run right.

        Ah yes he is right!

DEFINATELY do that, it will be more than worth it, becuz you will probably extend the life of your engine, tuning for more power will be easier, etc. I wouldn't even put fored induction on this car without a stand alone.

I wouldn't want to figure out how to make a +pressure MAP work on our ECUs....

yeah i was looking at the haltech systems earier but they cost over $1200 u.s.d and would it throw a code? this car is going to be an everyday driver i just want to be able to tool a corvette. and the reason i really havent figured this stuff out yet is because i havent even touched the motor or supercharer yet ive been doing a complete restoration/ modification to the body. but now i want to start working on the powertrain. im gonna need injectors that are good for everyday driving but when i cram it to the floor they have to be able to feed the engine, or even if i cant supercharge it for a little due to the money problem i could at least drive the car non supercharged with the injectors if thats possible? i do have a supercharger, its brand new and very strong, i wound it up the other day because it sounds sweet and my brother held his hand near the intake of it and it sucked his hand in and one of the propellers brushed his finger , so that was a close one. oh well if this is gonna cost over $5000 to do then i tihnk im gonna go buy this older nissan 230z that looks like a porsche boxster and make that my supercharged project car 3.4L DOHC rear wheel drive and supercharged , damn that car would fly

OK...I'll bite on this one. How exactly did you spool up your supercharger? Do you have it on a testbench with a 50 hp electric motor driving it? Just curious!

He spun it by hand probably. I've felt an M90 spun by hand and it was surprising how much air came out at... 10rpm? LOL!

Considering what brian had to do with the code (TGP?) to get a 2bar map working, as well as all the other crap that needs to be done computer wise...

standalone sounds smart or maybe upgrade to a 94-95 MAF system...but I dunno bout the ignition

How much boost do you want to run?

Im assuming ALOT if you want your 3200+ lb prix to "tool" a vette

You'll prolly NEED to buy an auto in the future to handle a decent sum of HP

Otherwise, good luck building up that 284

well ive heard that the 284's can handle alot of power, but whatever. and yes my car does weigh 3200 lbs but so does a corvette, they are damn near identical weight. i was thinking along the lines of 12psi, if thats not safe then i guess ill go to 8 - 10 psi. i just want my car fast , really really fast.

at $600 for the Holley Commander 950, you cant beat that price.

the MSD DIS-4 will work, however if your going to Standalone... you dont really need the MSD DIS-4 for control of the spark, -DIS-4's are used to Retard Ign timing for boost/Nitrous applications where you need the timing retared but have no control over the stock programing and efi.
the only other benefit the DIS-4 will give is increased spark, and Staging rev limiter, Rev limit,
