  • Intake Porting????

I am thinking of having my lim and plenum ported in the future and was wondering if there are any reputable places out there that port and polish them?

If you have the time/money/mechanical inclination to want a ported and polished intake setup, let me suggest swapping to 96-97 intakes and having them ported, mainly for the shorter runner lengths.

Not ideal for an auto. I am not going to 96 intakes for my manual either, the 91-95 runner length is perfect, its the plenum area itself that is the restriction. The port sizes gasket matched aren't bad at all either, especially if you don't hog out the heads with porting. I should have my modified plenum done this winter, which will take care of the restrictions.

im not sure how far off they are from the gaskets, nor the casting itself but I think just a simple gasket match on them would suffice for the amount of air they flow already. I would worry more about the TB arm itself and the TB size.

actually funny you should mention that. I am looking for a 96-99 northstar tb. i have a 95 tb but it uses an external iac motor, so i need a newer one with the internal iac. after that i am going to have a new tb arm made that is 75mm all the way through.

it is a risk though. whether it hurts or helps performance but i can always go back to my stocker this way. i figure i will have to move my maf alot closer to my tb to make up for the loss in intake velocity.

my guestimation is my torque will suffer but high rpm hp will increase.

You guess right, because it has been done and those are the results you will see. (It wasn't with a N* TB, but it was with a bored stock 96 TB)

At first, jsut mine cause I gotta test it:P I will decide from there if I will sell it, mostly depending on how involved it is and how much it likes to run without retuning. Otherwise I would have to offer it as a package with a reprogrammed chip (91-93 at first, 94-95 someday). Way too early to know at this point.

If its fully custom, it might be less involved to have a good fabricator make a bunch of them other than hand making each one.

Anyho, I guess Ill sit tight
