  • Lighter valve train

I am seriously thinking of getting the lighter lifters Ben has to offer. Now that I am going to have to rip the motor apart, what other things can I do as well to lighten the valve train? I have a spare set of heads I WAS porting on, but since have stopped since with 5 boxer/pitbull puppies running around the aluminum dust might be detremental to their health.

How about tougher valve springs, LIGHTER valves?

I doubt that very much. Lighter valves are gonna cost you a ton of money, 25-35 each. They have other benefits but thats the only way to get lighter unless you can find a place to machine the stockers how you need them done (drill out the stem).

Im not sure if stronger springs will help out or not, but I do know that no one has test fit a different spring and tried it. Some have used shims but that would take the new TRW springs and make them stock 91 spec again (trw are 8 pounds weaker than the original springs in 91).

Yeah, the SIvalves are lighter than stock. Im not sure what the best valves would be other than talking to ferrea. They make hollow valves but they are gonna be custom and also very expensive.

That's interesting. I didn't know the SI stainless valves were actually lighter. Thanx.

They are for the pushrods, not for the DOHC.

Not that im aware of. 96 springs got weaker so I doubt 94-95 got stiffer.
