I have no idea what they can handle, but custom is the only way you will upgrade them. I don't forsee any issues with 300 crank hp but that doesn't mean im right. I don't believe teh TGP guys are breaking their axles at the 300 hp mark, and one of their axles fits our transmission from what I have been told.
Now going off of races I have had, I should be right below 300hp at the crank. Maybe I'm over, maybe a lot lower, who knows. But I have had no problems yet, we will see after the intake.
Now having a lot of power on axles isn't the majority of their failures. Its people putting a lot of power down, and hooking it up. I mean you can break axles with a 400hp camaro, with slicks, wheelie bars, clutch, etc. The power has to go somewhere. On our cars, the power will just make the tires roast, which doesn't due a measureable amount of damage to the axles.
