  • Cam Specs

I should be getting the reground set back sometime soon, so once I get those specs ill throw them up.

Anyway, we were starting to get into the 96 cam specs in the head porting thread so I figure we can discuss this so others know its here

    91-95
    Int: 221 Degree Duration @ .050", Lift = .370", 112 centerline
    Exh: 228 Degree Duration @ .050", Lift = .370", 111 centerline

96-97 (duration should be the same but I am not 100%)
    Int: ? Degree Duration @ .050", Lift = .370", 108 centerline
    Exh: ? Degree Duration @ .050", Lift = .370", 115 centerline

I updated the site with this info. It looks like the 96 cam timing changed 4 degrees, as did the exhaust, in opposite directions. I am going to scan some pics to make more sense of this in a bit. For now, it looks like from desktop dyno that the stock 96 timing is worse than the 91-95 timing till 5500. Then its worth 5 hp peak....hmm.

the gm site has no duration listing in the 1997 w_body manual, so i don't know where i could get those from, i will try all data tommorow. how much did those cams cost and how long did it take them to do them?

If nothing else, change the cam timing to suit your needs. Its (Infinite cam timing) the best design for a DOHC ever

do you know the spec limits of regrinding the stock cams(duration and lift available)? i'm thinking of having this done and would like to run the limits past my cam guru so he can pick out the best available specs for a regrind.

The stock specs from GM are incorrect. The regrind specs for stock lift are likely exactly what GM says the specs are, since the duration is a few degrees less with a little more lift.
