  • Not bad for almost stock! 94 Cutty DOHC

This was my second run, then it rained us out. Missed 15s by a blonde cunt hair. I ran against a V8 Blazer. First run I smoked a 3100 Grand Am. Only thing I got is Cold Air and Borla Exhaust. Hope you can read from my crappy scanner. Final was 16.010 @ 86.73. The first time I ran the car it only got mid 16s. So there has been improvement. And since it rained, we have been drinking beer! (oh my) I did see a Dura Max do 11s! Had twin turbos and the smoke rolled! That was impressive!

That still seems slow for a DOHC car though. They should be 15s stock. How are you launching it?

Not brake torquing, just slip off brake onto throttle. Everyone told me 16.75 was good for stock. Oh well, back to the drawing board. You really need this car for awhile.

How would you suggest launching it? Brake torque? I am open for opinions here. I am used to running RWD.

I am the last person to ask Im pretty sure you need to brake torque it but I dunno what RPM. I was hoping someone else would post how to launch from my question but I guess that isn't happening.

Stall convertor might help, I dunno. Once I find the right combo, I'll do it. I don't want to tear down more than once, at least not for awhile. Here is another Q for you Ben,...Do you think it will help or hurt to do the exhaust retard, without redoing PCM as we have discussed earlier? Tranny seems tougher after last rebuild. And if I didn't have to drive the bitch every day, You could have it. My plans seem to die at the last minute, kinda like that frog...

I usually Brake Tourque around 1500-1800rpms. Seems to work well, just have to practice a bit to lesson the wheel spin abit.

I think I was doing it around 2k when the 91 had an auto.

Brake it to 2k roughly. That's all the higher I could get mine to hold. (Ran a 15.3 in an auto)

Yeah, I have pulled away from the staging light a couple feet when the brakes didn't hold I felt like an ass having to back up and re-stage, lol.
