Isn't the 3500 crank an interference fit in the 3400 block without major clearancing? If so it would be the same way in the DOHC block.

I seem to remember reading it wouldn't bolt right in a 3400 block, but I could be wrong.

That and doesnt the 3500 crank also have a timing gear in the middle of the crank that would have to be machined off

It could be pounded off. It's pressed onto the crank, not machined into it.

didn't know you already had the pistons, just throwing ideas out there to try and help.

who knows, the 3.4 DOHC block is probably closer to a gen 2 in the interference areas.. it could be worse or better than a 3400... most likely way worse.

If there is enough meat to make space... then use a 3.6 crank.

i'm sure it's stronger than the stocker, but any other reason? 3.6 has a stroke of 3.37 compared to the 3.4's 3.31... displacement gained is pretty minimal, though it brings the "3.4" up from 3349cc to 3412cc.

just the small stroke gain, I always wanted to put the 3.6 rotating assembly in my 3500. That would have been fun.

Well the rods and pistons are a really close match

I think it was really close in a 3500, ended up at like 14:1 scr. The mains are extremely close, you can check the specs in the download section.

I'd be really surprised if the crank could actually fit. But it would be cool. They're built for more power. I do wonder about the pistons though; being cast, can they really be as strong as the 3500 pistons?

So hopefully I can get my taxes done today, and order hp tuners in a couple of weeks. The block is at the machine shop getting honed and line honed and overall ready to be rebuilt

food for thought, DHP powrtuner software is still available, all you need is a AVT 838 or AVT 841 cable, and you can flash a PCM. then if you get tiny tuner, you can change most anything you would need.

I can't find a dhp power tuner. I would love to have that instead of HP tuners. Can u tune everything including trans shift points with dhp
