I don't see how shutting off the EGR and AIR is going to carbon a thing up. Gee, our friend the EGR valve, returning nasty ass already burned air (including CARBON) into the intake. Wow, shut that sucker off and the intake is cleaner, at the expense of NOx going into the air. Ok, now if we aren't shooting in Oxygen to help burn unburned fuel in the cat, how is that going to carbon the engine up? Besides, even if it did, most of us that know what we are doing take our cars apart enough to clean stuff out, or use a can of GM Top Engine Cleaner before we change plugs every summer.

i think there is a person on here that can answer all your egr questions(jmgtp i think). we briefly discussed egr delete options be4 simply unplug it (u get a ses though)when no power is present the solenoids are always closed. but if u try to do a bypass thing and the ecm/pcm/whatever thinks the egr is still there it might be bad cause the timing table is set for egr on and u have it bypassed it might have ill effects. i don't quite remember how he worded it. but ask him.The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

When I say my EGR's are not working on both cars, it's not because they physically don't work, because both work just fine. It's because I had Ben turn them off because I was getting sick of the carbon in the intake. The 91 had it so bad that there was a chunk that was almost 1/2"x1/2" sticking out of the port that leads to the EGR just inside the TB. Of course with them turned off my NOx output is higher, but we don't have emmissions testing here.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

I had turned my off before thru a solid state device hehe.
I can't remember what I did, it was an experiment that I farted around with when I first started to dig in automotive electronics.
All I know is that if you know what you are doing you can remove just about every piece of emission equipment and still have a good running car.I am back
