    Cleaning and decking the head: $350!!!

    took my set of heads to BURTON machine shop by my house and got a qoute for just cleaning and decking the heads...No valve angle job, or anything else: $350....

    I told them I would return but fuck that, seems TOO high to just clean and deck the heads. Is this the price it should be or was this guy just being a real asshat?

    Sounds awful damn high.

    I had my '67 Caprices heads cleaned, magnafluxed, replaced a valve, several springs, and the seals, as well as decking them a bit for under $100 back in '96 or '97.

      Yeah, that's high. LQ1 heads are easy as fuck to set up on a head surfacer too.
