  • New muffler company???

I was going around town trying to find someone to do an exhaust system from the cat back, with a high flow cat using 2.5 pipes and flowmaster 40's. One company said $998 to do it and only 2.25 pipes, seriously! Another, the same franchise, said they'd do the same for $500, using some mufflers called RAVIN'. They supposedly flow better than dynomax and flowmaster, cost $60 less, and are lifetime waranty. Any one heare of them before, or is this some cheap nock-offs.
Or, should I be the newbie Guinea pig and try them out?

yeeesh...I wouldnt want to pay more than 300...400 at the most

No idea on the muffs, a good shop will usually clamp or hold em on so you can hear them before weld

Ya i think its a midas brand, or atleast they are sold pretty much through midas. My friends aunt has a new stang with those and it sounds pretty awesome.

I had a Raptor turbo muff on my 86 Prelude 2.0 SI, and it sounded pretty good. Closest thing to Ravin I can think of. Thought about trying a set on the 91 to see if they sound good and I would want to put them on the 92.

BTW, it is not a fartpipe either. It was around before those stupid things. I think I had that car in 98-99, and it sounded pretty good for a 4 cylinder, like a kinda powerfull note, not like those ass rockets that high school f-n-f kids put on their cars now. It looked like a regular muffler.

my bro had ravins on his gtp, they sound good for a little bit, until they break apart in less than a year and rattle horrible.

I've had a (1) Ravin 55 series on my Grand Am for almost three years now. I've been really happy with it. Does not sound like a Flowmaster, but still a nice deep, not too loud, rumble.

                Here is a cut away.

Ravin has been around for about 4 years.

I had ravens on my truck and blew the baffels out in a month. A grand is way high for what you want. The new flowmaster(better flow than the old ones) only cost around $80 or less and a an Hf cat shouldn't coat more than 160.Aluminized pipes cost around 90 for the whole sytem bend and welded.

i'ld to go to anoughther exhaust shop. The epa now regulates cat flows so no cat flows better than any outher, but this is to our advantage becasue the epa says the cat should have no backpressior. Thsi means car manufateror in who sell to the US had spend billons of dollars to produse cats that have less backpressior than most of the exspensive SHF cats.
The new GM cats are designed like a velocity stack and actualy pull air trough the engine at mid to high rpms, but that's not totaly because of the epa. It's becase of the Vortek design. The epa just forced them to refine the design.

so stupid, they should only care about what comes out in the exhaust, not how it comes out

i think the ravins sound good on the 3.4l DOHC but they are garbage, witihn one year one of them craked in half and in the other one the baffles fell down and they rattled very bad. maybe you could just spray a whole bunch of high temp paint in there to prevent them from rusting, and also dont have midas install your exhaust they do the worst job in the world!
