  • Scanned car daily driving....LOTS OF KNOCK COUNT/RETARD!

Wat gives? I ran the car from my house to the mall to my sister's friends house and back to my house. City driving then lots of highway driving....I floored it on the highway till 100.

Saw the knock count at 9! Knock retard at 3! Can someone explain why?

At the beginning spark was at 40* or so then as the driving when on it lowres to like 22* then lower....

Cruise spark will be around 40, but wot at 22-26 sounds about right. Either bad gas, bad injectors, or carbon buildup. Could also be a sensitive knock sensor.

What if I were to try a colder plug? Right now I am using NGK TR5's. What would a codler plug from that be or for any plug?

thats a half assed way to try to fix things imo. You dont have any mods to warrant any knock.

          lol.

So I guess some SeaFoam or GM TOp Engine CLeaner is in the works eh? I've already ran the TEC on my car 3 times within the last year.

For Fuel, I always use the 89 octane. Spark plugs gapped at .45 though on mymonte there is a guy who gapped his at .60. Any benefit on that?

I have the spare set of heads I'm working on. For the combustion chamber, the least amount of material should be removed while polishing it up to a mirror finish correct? What about valve faces? Polish them up toa mirror too?

try using premium then. You shouldnt have to run it but see if it helps anyway.

You can polish them up if you want. Just removing the corners helps with detonation/pre-ignition. Shouldnt be a problem with our heads either way but it helps.
