  • 3.4L DOHC 5spd exhaust change

Somebody once told me that the exhaust manifold on my '92 gp STE has an opening that is about the size of a golfball. They also told me that if i open it up it would not only make my car sound better but that it would also result in 20+ Hp. Another person told me that if it were to be opened to far that it would decrease my Hp and render the whole process useless! I will admit i don't know much about exhaust and am in need of some help. What should i do?

Not bother with the manifolds because its a waste of time to port them out. You would need headers to get 20+ hp, porting would net you maybe 1.

The stock crossover is 2.25", downpipe outlet is 2.5", and the ports on the head flange are larger then the head ports are. Not sure where this "golfball" sized opening is.

Maybe the intake valve, but that's not quite golfball sized, lol.
