  • GPT needs more hp

I am building 91 gtp 3.4 and I have run into a few snags as far as mods. It's already had a rebuild including PnP, five way valve job, overbore, new everything from crank up, msd ignition, magnaflow exhaust system and a centerforce clutch , sync baring and pressure plate... only has about 15 km on the rebuild but I am eager to do more ...

I am looking for info on chips, headers as well as trans rebuild info for my 5 speed

this vide is of what she sounds like now with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyxPsWYc2uM

Ben makes a chip for the car.. its at the "WOT-Tech store"

As for headers, thats gunna be 100% custom. no one makes headers for the 91-95 DOHC's. If you want big power, you can turbo it like a few of us have.. check out the boost section for more info.

Corrected your post. The 60v6 store only sells site merchandise (stickers, shirts, etc). WOT-Tech sells the perf parts.

My bad, I typed WOT-Tech the 1st time then i changed it cause i saw the 60degreev6 store banner... got confused.

The DB is being updated and its taking time... the "how to" write ups are saved somewhere dunno if they are added to the site yet after the change over. From what i understand the timing mods are not "MAKING" power they are just moving them up in RPM... you TQ comes in at different RPM and the HP also comes in at a higher RPM... (if i understand correctly)

I did a 1996-97 Intake swap (UIM, LIM) and like the results.. Larger plenum/runners and all in a straight line, not staggered. Its cheap and yealds good results. Another thing to consider is if you have a good understanding of "TUNING" you can do a OBDII swap and tune it with DHP Powrtuner, you can find used cables/software for ~$300 (a must if your considering turbo)

Ive allways wanted to see a LQ1 w/ a Centrifugal (vortech) supercharger... RSM made 1 WAY back in the day but never saw anyone with one.. would be a sweet option for the DOHC! My turbo is fun but i think the vortech charger would be a tad bit more fun on the street (more tq)

Here is the latest link to the DOHC maintenance articles (available from the main page, left side navigation) : http://60degreev6.com/content.php/93

From there, just follow the links to timing belt replacement. The discussion on different settings (6/6 for example) is at the end of the one with photos. Hope this helps.

If I had a few grand Id buy it off ya... You can use the 6spd that came in the g6 but its hp limits haven't been tested and its vary complex swap.

I am (so far) happy with the 284 in there .... i have since run into a bit of an ignition issue. I have narrowed the problem down to the ignition module or crank sensor. You guys have ne tips on trouble shooting this or suggestions for aftermarket ignition up grades?

I was plagued with an ignition issue a few years ago. My crank sensor went on it. The crank sensor from what I know either works or it doesn't. It quit on mine and the car wouldn't run. Unfortunately I followed some advice from few people on here and started throwing parts at it. I bought the ICM first and then got the CP sensor put it on and the car ran after that. I discovered some bad wiring in the ICM loom that made it idle weird and stall when at a light sometimes and also not go to redline. You can get the ICM tested for free at most NAPA's and pull the plug boots off one at a time to check for bad coils or plug wires. One coil runs two plugs so if a coil is bad it will affect two cylinders. Just watch for a RPM drop as you pull em off the plug. Theres also a $4 spark tester you can get very handy. You could also have bad wiring in the CP sensor harness. My car engine runs like a top now. What is the engine doing>?

as for "Upgrades" don't waste your money. run a Good plug (NGK) and a good set of wires (Manicore) and leave the rest stock. Stock Ignition on these cars are very good from the factory, little to no gains to be made with other parts.

so the car is in the finale stages of body work now I have been working away at the suspension, and brakes bit by bit. Aside form spraying the paint and having the seats recovered the car is ready for the road. I have been looking for some way of dropping the car 1.5" to 2 " but have found no aftermarket parts for this car. suggestions? I have access to a spring shop and was thinking I may try de-arching a set of metal springs to replace the mono BUT...........

also I was thinking of cutting up a set of headers for a 3.8 that I had found online,.. they haven't arrived yet but I am hoping that with a new set of flanges and heating and tweaking I will be able to make them work on the 3.4. Have any of you heard of this being done before?
