so then say Decide to convert to a manual gearbox and want to start with the factory set up... What is the trans number to go for that is a direct bolt up
and since NONE of the obd2 stuff out there is DIY, like tunerpro, or encourages DIY, people are at the mercy of companies to disassemble, comment, and hack through BINs...
and that's why it costs SO much more to play in the OBD2 game than OBD1.
reasons #1 and #2 why i chose 1.
Not quite... I know a guy who made a program that has TONS more mapped than DHP. The only issue is you need to use a supported OSID from DHP because once you edit it you still need to use DHP to upload it.
Also not many OBDII companies concentrate on the 96 year since it was a 256k ecm... most work on 97+ vehicles.
The next thing is to find someone who can take the language of the AVT unit and the language needed to process an upload and make a program that will flash an ECM with any bin file. Right now the only guy who was doing that, Charles at DHP has closed his doors and I think those that worked with him and who want to expand his software are afraid of crossing him by creating a new programming program. I'm not sure what the liability would be on something like that. DHP was already better that HPT since you could program ANY ECM to a different OSID so if you were to just pick up any 97 ECM its guaranteed to work, where HPT tuners still does not provide a full OSID overwrite function.
Eh either way I'm happy with what I got and I have quite a bit of ability with it.
