hey i am looking into putting a turbo on my 1995 monte z34 it has 3.4 dohc but i am trying to get a plan first.I was wanting to know if anyone on here has a turbo setup on there 3.4 and has any pics of the setup on how it was built or any after it was built so i can get a ideal on how to build it.Or if anyone has one to sell that would be wonderfull to but i know thats asking for alot lol.Or any other performance parts for sale like headers or anything i have 2 cars im building up.Thanks

I'm looking at going down the turbo road myself. You need to figure out a few major things first. Your car being a 95 likely has OBD 1.5 which is in between the realm of computer tuning. I dont know the reason why but OBD 1.5 is almost completely untuneable. If you do it right you can get away with no more than 5 PSI without computer tuning. The ECM can be swapped to OBD 1 or OBD 2 but this is a pretty major operation. A few have done it but not something you should try unless your really vested.
The biggest thing with a turbo is getting the fuel pressure to match the boost change. The air fuel mixture needs to be correct or else you will get detonation and ruin your engine quickly. You can use a FMU to change the fuel pressure as the boost pressure rises which is the only way I know of without computer tuning.
You need to create a turbo manifold and a downpipe for your car. Both exhaust manifolds need to come to come together into a turbo flange; and then out a custom downpipe. If you know a welder that would help. Do a search on threads done by redzmonte in the turbo section; he has pictures of the exhaust setup he made for his car and a bit about how he did it.
Mating the correct turbo to your car is the big question Im struggling on this myself. Some guys have used a t3 t4 hybrid and others a T04B or T04E.1991 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP / 3.4 DOHC

^ 94-95 LQ1 cars are NOT OBD1.5, they have a removeable MEMCAL, just like almost every other GM ECM since 1986. i wrote the XDF to tune them using tunerpro. granted, it's not complete, but it does have most paramaters needed for tuning.
and i don't care how low of boost you're running, you cannot get away with runnig a turbo without tuning, unless you're going to try and make a rising rate FPR do all the work, still not a great option.
swapping to OBD1 is actually a 10-30 minute operation. the only thing you would need to do is remove the MAF, add a MAP, and swap the current ECM for a 1227727 ECM. you might need to swap 3 or 4 pins om the ECM connectors and then its good to go.
unfortunately, you won't be able to keep an electronically shifted tranny going that route, so i would just suggest using what you have and tuning that way.

I have a turbocharged 95.
FPR works up until around 7 psi. It's not the best way to go, but is cheap.
A Split Second FTC1 or other piggyback system will work better.
Tunerpro for a 95 PCM or DHP for a 96 or 97 PCM, or HPTuners for a 97 PCM is the best to go (excluding standalone EMS).
Many of us have done or looked into OBD2 swaps for easier tunability. The 97 PCM/harness also brings the option to run the 4T65E-HD.
The easiest way to run the turbo is to put a front manifold on the rear head, then build a custom crossover and downpipe.

* 2 front log manifolds (your car allready has one, so you need 1 more)
-1 for the front, 1 for the rear.. Equil flow and more room for down pipe.
* Turbo (T04E is what Timg and i have, Others run T3/T4's)
* Wastegate (38mm Tial or turbonetics are best)
* Custom X-over (2"-2.25" connects front and rear manifolds together)
* Custom Downpipe (2.25"-3" I have a 2.5")
* Charge Pipes (from turbo the TB... Intercooler is not required on low boost but a good idea)
* FMU (Vortec or other 12:1) (or OBDII Swap and DHP powrtuner, has to be a 1996 if you have a 4T60 trans)
* Walbro 255 LPH HP (high pressure version if FMU is used)
* oil feed line (feeds from oil pressure sensor)
* Oil return line (feeds to top of the oil pan)
* misc couplers, clamps, ect.
* Turbo inlet flange, turbo outlet flange (once you pick a turbo you can get the correct ones)
* Header wrap
I also invested in a turbo blanket and heat sleeves for the fuel lines that run over the top of the downpipe, dont want thoes melting lol. (keeps under hood temp down and things from melting)
Total i have about $3000-$3500 into my setup using all quality parts (Tial, Turbonetics, stainless flanges)
**Blow off Valve and larger exaust is optional but recomended***
