my goal would be to separate the banks of cylinders & get it pulling air from 2 different sides underneath the hood :P

And feed each one with its own turbo in a twin turbo setup?

GTP091: you're right in thinking that it's a major PITA. but it would be necessary for an all-out wicked N/A Build. i really am interested in what no_doz has in mind...

pocket-rocket: i'd be wary of something like that because if for some reason one side makes more boost than the other or its a different temp, than bad things could happen very quickly. i would make some type of balance bar(kind of like how banshees got "boost bottles") to eliminate any difference in pressure without making air want to flow into the wrong set of cylinders...

im getting ready to finish & sell a few vehicles & after riding around in my friends 3.0 v6 eclipse vtec im strongly considering just fixing the GTP & putting any and all work into it.

the design i was thinking of would be for rwd & would have a closed throttleplate bed facing straight towards the port with as little angle as possible & as long of tubes as possible to fit under a small amount of cowl.

if i deck out my gtp the gf might get the lumina, & the sunfire is going bye bye-my biggest worry is about the longevity of these dohc engines & how to make sure i wont lose this LQ1 as well as find out why there is 300lbs more weight than my 90 lumina 3.1 4 speed euro coupe.

Joseph I think mentioned something about how one bank would feed one turbo that would supply air to the opposite side... That way it would sort of be self balancing..

The TDC has a lot bigger heads and more cams/etc so that adds weight...

if one were looking for 300 crank hp with good long tube headers to dual high flowing exhausts, good tune, custom dual tb intake & necessary accessories, bigger injectors, crank scraper & windage tray, balanced rotating assembly with H beam rods-would this be feasible?

                what do you guys think?

probably need more cam and compression to get it over the hill, but those things you listed would get it close... might need a little p/p work on the heads though.

I would have to concur with this. The main reason Josh moved on and sold his GP after what he had done is he realized the cams were the next roadblock to gain more power and couldn't justify the price tag on custom/reground to get over the next roadblock while staying NA.

this is what im talking about (slightly differently applied, but for high rpms id say it must be a good design if its whats used in a $200,000.00 car making power to 7k rpms with 5 valves a cylinder).

if done properly & if someone was willing to spend the money to do it, if endyn can pull 320 crank hp out of a 2.0 at 8500 rpms with no turbo or race gas (im pretty sure it wasnt high comp), if built & cammed for it i dont see why a LQ1 couldnt push 450 BHP at 7000-7200rpms.

keep in mind thats talking BUILT, but still 450 BHP at 7k on pump gas would be pretty amazing, let alone the fact that ill bet most non-60* owners dont have a clue about the LQ1 so thats added chewy goodness

the issue there is that ferrari made FAR fewer compromises building their engines compared to the LQ1. if you're willing to put in the research, money and effort into making it, then yes, it is very possible. but those three things rarely come together.

true true, im just talking about theory at this point, you never know when bullshitting may give someone ideas that lead to something kickass, worst comes to worst it never comes of anything, but ideas have changed the world.
