I now have the transaxle I will be using behind my LQ. - It's one of the many surplus "4DFF" NVG T550 units (same as HM282 but made by New Venture) that were floating around a while back. It has the lower ratio final drive along with a slightly lower gearset. Here are the specs: 1st:3.77, 2nd:2.19, 3rd:1.38, 4th:1.06, 5th:0.80, FDR:3.94. With stock diameter '96 Z-24 (J-body) tires, this will yield 2,800rpm @ 60mph. These all have the Quad case (starter at 1 o'clock) with hydraulic TOB so I will be swaping out an older 60degree case half with external slave. If you'd like, I can post some pictures.
My source has about six more of these transaxles. - I am thinking about buying another for a backup. If anyone here is within driving distance of me and wants one, pm me. Maybe we can save some $$ on freight.
