also if the left side is the intake port, is that huge lump of material able to be removed for the most part? seems like a good bit of flow could be gained by removing that alone.
if the left isn't the intake, i'm a preacher...

looks like oil built up on the left and carbon on the right. that tells me the left is in, right out...

You would have to see the port as a whole to understand the cut up pieces. I have the entire intake manifold cut up to match as well. The bulge you see is part of the fin. You can't just remove that and expect flow:P

i thought we were all obsessed with lq1.lol
is that not why we are here.

not all of us like the DOHC motors that much... i would love a built OHV setup before a built DOHC. BUT the way of the future is DOHC, so we might as well start adapting...

Geez, I can't believe I haven't logged in since early October!

The stroker project is still alive but I've been consumed with other things that have taken precedence. I did manage to get down to Columbus, Indiana in November to retrieve my donor car. I would post pics but the car is covered with snow right now. In all, I am happy with it. It is a 1996 Cavalier Z-24. The body is in decent condition with no rust on the quarters or rockers. The car has the typical 2.4L spun bearing problem and has been sitting for over three years.

Pocket Rocket, I will purchase that ecm / harness we spoke about (last fall) as soon as it's convenient for you. - 'Just let me know.

Anyone here have any experience running an OBDII speedo head with an OBDI ecm?

Well, I got sick for a good chunk of time not too long ago, and have been busy with things, and now that really nasty sky dandruff has covered the 91, pushing back when I could start into it. It's good to see you are still alive though

No problem John. I probably won't be in a position to do much for a couple of months myself. There just never seems to be enough time in the day. We are expecting our 7th child in early March. I am guessing that I will pull the twin cam drivetrain out once the weather breaks and we have adjusted to having a new little guy in the house.

Well, believe it or not, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. It's amazing how quickly time passes when you're busy. The stroker project is still alive. If all goes as planned, it's going to happen this Summer. I have most of my parts collected. - Now all I need is time. Since my last post, I have acquired a V6 Getrag. Now I can build a hybrid transaxle using parts from it and the new 4DFF Getrag that I have. Between the two, I will be able to put together a transaxle that has a little more consistent gearing than either of the factory units. Considering todays gas prices, I am opting to use the 3.61 FDR instead of the 3.94 FDR in the Quad 4 box.

Speaking of parts, does anyone here have a spare rear valve cover that would fit my '96 LQ1? If so, let me know your asking price.

I know of a junkyard in Three Rivers that has a couple 96/7 engines in the yard at the moment. It's a very nice yard too, and is the one I go to when I need stuff. It's around 45 minutes from me, so that would be around an hour and 10 minutes or so from you. Ben betrayed us and moved to Florida

And their you pull it lot:

Does the 3500 crank just drop in? I though the reluctor wheel had more teeth than the 3.4, is that gonna be a problem?

you'll need either the 7x external trigger wheel or the internal one that a machine shop will have to install on the crank. Plus you'll most likely have to clearance the block and maybe modify the pan.
